Agreed Tailgate. I have almost 10,000 miles on my stock BT020's. My bike is an '06, so I am replacing them before next spring!
ClarkFZ6 - glad to hear that you were able to walk away from that one. Can you report back with your opinions on the BT023's? I and many others on the forum would...
Even at $1500 I think you should walk away from the deal. An engine will likely cost you $1000 or more, and then you need to go through the effort (or expense) to install the engine. My bet is that you could pick up a decent used FZ6 for $3500 or less and be riding next week instead of...
+1 to what Philosopheriam said.
IMHO, the horsepower gains over the FZ6 are not enough to offset the increased weight. From what I have read, the engine is "detuned" similar to what Yamaha has done for the FZ6R. I have not had a chance to ride one yet, but would like to take one for a good...
IMHO locking up the rear brake on a cycle is really not a big deal as long as you are not turning! That being said, your stopping distance is shorter if you ALMOST lock up the rear (slight, intermittent chirping). I have made a couple of E-stops, and have chirped the rear tire both times.
I...
Congrats on the new bike Dankatz!
After looking at the comparison drawing the Erci posted up it is pretty obvious why FZ6 riders are drawn to the VFR. Nice work Erci.
It looks like you made a few poor choices (I am talking about the first video here), but reacted well under pressure. Riding at night and close to parked vehicles is not the right time and place for aggresive riding.
As for the second video, you made many poor choices and you left yourself...
Unbelievable..... How can someone actually be teaching new students NOT TO USE THEIR FRONT BRAKE? Pure stupidity. I feel sorry for the students "learning" from that instructor.
Glad to hear that you are OK. If you suspect sabotage, I suggest that you call the police and let them know what happened. Maybe they will patrol the area more often?
Congrats on the new bike! The VFR will likely be my next bike in a couple of years too.
Enjoy your new ride. I hope heal up quickly and are able to ride it sooner than expected. Many thanks to you for sharing all of your FZ6 modding knowledge with us!
Another thing you could try is to shift from 2nd to 3rd around 60mph... I think that will put you somewhere between 7,000 and 8,000 RPM.
I also suggest that you lube all of the shifter linkage, and check your clutch cable free play. Those 2 things made a huge difference for my bike!
FWIW - For the longest time, I hated to ride in the rain too. After taking a few extended rides in the rain, it doesn't bother me now as long as I have appropriate gear on. Just take it slower, and don't lean the bike as much in corners and everything should be fine! You would be surprised at...
My thoughts exactly. My advice is to take many short jaunts on the freeway - pretty soon you will be accustomed to the wind and you won't even think about it anymore. A tighter fitting jacket will take care of the "parachute" feeling that you experienced.
I am trying to figure out a reason why I would like to share a tent with my FZ... Haven't thought of one yet - last time I checked, a little rain will not harm a motorcycle!
Glad to hear that you are OK! Sorry that you went for a slide on your bike - at least it was a lowside and not a highside... Thanks for the ATGATT reminder.
I hope ya heal up quickly!
5'-11" with 32" inch inseam, and skinny here.... The FZ fits me perfectly IMHO.
When I was researching bikes a couple of years ago, I was convinced that a Ninja 250 would be a good bike to thrash around on for a couple of years. Then, I went and sat on one at the dealer - my knees rested...
