the 04 model
Im not an expert in any of these matters, in fact clueless would be the best way to describe my knowlege on this subject. I get the feeling from reading the posts that this mod will only work on the 07 model. You have noticed a decent change in power to. Thats right isn't it? What I want to know is. Will this mod work on my 06 model or not?

As was said the only real way to know would be to dyno with a gas analyiser. We all obviously have different opinions, with no hard evidence shown as yet which is correct. I have explained my understanding of the system from a past (efi car specialist) on standard systems. Mine is a 04 and have done the mod. I do agree a pc would be an advantage to fine tune and get better top end.

:Im With Stupid:Mate no offense at al, we all have different skills and experience. Im gona wait until you or one othe the other members dyno to see for sure. One of the things I was wondering though... You mention a good rise in engine note and exhaust sound. I like going for long runs and I find that the standard noise is pretty good on the old ear lugs in terms of dBs. After the mod, is your bikes dBs increase more of a problem on these longer runs?:Flash:

I'm really intrigued now as to what a before dyno run and after would come up with .... someone get out there and spend the money :)

Obviously for all our benefit ;)

I'd do it but I'm skint  ... just blown my savings on a Leo Vince that has still not arrived :( I had an attempted delivery today though whilst at work so am praying my new "neighbour annoyer" is waiting in a local warehouse !!!

Well went for a descent ride today with my girl, the bike definately has more go. My girl said the exhaust wasnt enoying, said she definately heard the intake but said it sounded good. But what a shocking ride acouple of months off the bike for me a probably 5 for my girl. I wasnt in sync with my bike my girl wasnt in sync with me. Icouldnt move my foot then found i had chewy stuck on my shoe. I hated it scared us both ****less cornering was reel late and bad couldnt down shift cause of chewy am now sore and knacked. But bike hate more go, lifted front wheel with both of us without trying.

Cheers mate, I am considering the mod, but all this talk of 02 sensors ect has left me a little unsure. I may just try fitting a power comander to see if this has any noticable difference.

I did it

I just did this mod and the bike sounded a little deeper not real noticeable. But then I drilled out my stock mufflers and was pleased by what I heard, definitely a deeper tone not a lot of volume gain but really sounds better I think. I also want to gut the cat but I am going to ride around a bit and see if I have made any improvements.

I doubt you'll get a noticable difference with the cats...it's not a restriction in any way...just burns off unburnt fuel when warmed up. You might want that if you dont want a lot of backfiring.

I have an '06' with Scorpion exhaust and a K&N air filter. I am also interested in the air box mod. I have looked at the Power Commander on their web site (I know I have to keep it under 6000 rpm to avoid a lean condition). I have emailed their tech support about which one to go with, the California model or the race model (I live in Washington state) but they will only say in their email reply that the race model is for "race only". It seems to me that the race model would give me more versitality in programing and the file for my combination is the same for either model. What's the thought here?

Measure the AFR?

Anyone thought about getting one of those air fuel ratio measuring kits (Innovate LM-1, Racetech, Luminition etc) to measure the effect of the mods on the AFR?

cats do restrict and do make a difference when removed, better flow, tests show 2.5-3.5hp
