Thanks for the Tech bulletin #

I just stopped at my local dealership to ask about this. They have the upgrade in stock and said to bring it in anytime but PLEASE if you hear any noise from that area to stop immediatley. They have a bike in the shop right now with the engine pulled out to do what should have been an easy job...

    1625 miles in 3 days

I left NJ Saturday am and got to Maryville TN that night. In the morning I rode the Tail of the Dragon then headed up through Cherokee and hit the Blue Ridge Pkwy. I had to leave the Pkwy at Blowing Rock as it is closed for repairs. The weather didn't seem like it was going to cooperate so I...

Dirty wheel after oiling the chain, what am I doing wrong?

First, mke sure the keys are in your pocket. NEVER try to lube the chain with the bike running. You don't need to spray the chain. Try to dribble the oil from the nozzle as slowly as possible. Using the red nozzle tube will help. With the bike on the centerstand and the trans in neutral, you can...

My tail light doesnt work unless the brake is pressed

Most likely, the running light filiment burned out. Yes, a standard 1157 will work. Take the seat off and the plug will pop out with a 1/4 turn. Very simple. On another note, before I leave for a ride, I almost always check the running lights are working and check the brake light activate...

    Clutch wear

Before you loosen anything on the bike, look at the small hash marks on the swingarm at the axle. These are the marks you use to align the rear wheel. If you need to adjust it, everything you need is in the toolkit under the seat.. I would be a little leary about playing with it if you don't...

    Radiator fan jammed

If the '08 is similar to the '05, you should be able to do it with little problem. I just changed the spark plugs and had the radiator loose. Take out the lower radiator bolt and the clamp bolt on the right side radiator hose. Take out the top right radiator mount bolt and pull the radiator...

How many miles do you get out of your brake pads?

I just did my 20,000 mile service on my '05. Pads still have plenty of meat. I mainly use it for commuting on the highway.

    stranded for hours !!!!!!

I feel for you. I had a flat repair let go on Rt 695 around Washington DC last year. 4 hours for AAA to show up. Then a 125 mile tow home. We were stuck on the center median the whole time locked down by 8 lanes of traffic. It was not my idea of fun. Fortunately the Harley dealer picked up the...

    4th of July

I was on my way to work today and happened to look at my odometer. My '05 had exactly 017760 miles. I thought it was pretty cool. Happy 4th to all.

    Surplus output of the generator?

Yeah, I also have the Gerbing's. At the least I would want the jacket and gloves. I could skip the socks if needed. I was just trying to avaoid getting halfway to work and finding out I had to turn off my jacket. They do have an adjustablr thermostat, but at 20 deg & 80 mph on the NJ turnpike...

    Surplus output of the generator?

The service manual says my '05 puts out 310 watts @ 5000 rpm. I want to hook up my electric jacket etc, but they draw 130 watts total. I havent done the dual headlight mod so thats a 55w savings. my problem is no one seems to be able to tell me how many watts I can hook up before the battery is...

How do you guys do it?

Just got back from a ride. I got tired of reading about riding. I learned a valuable lesson. If you wear battery operated gloves, make sure the freakin things are charged. My hands should thaw by tomorrow.:D
