Finally, after pining over clip ons for about 4 months, I finally found the ones that work. Woodcraft with 2" risers and black bars. So SEXY! They fit perfectly. Nothing hits, lock to lock. They are so much better than the FZ1 bars. Not much lower... about an inch. But, close to 3" forward, and just a much better pull back. And for the nay sayers, I have my forks raised in the tripples for over a year now. I did have to raise them another 1/4", but im also putting in racetech 1.1kg springs and valve emulators this week. The front wont be diving at ALL! Well, on to the porn! Enjoy!

Dave,

Looks great!

Doesn't dropping the front effect your turn-in characteristics?

My bike (stock OEM) is dropped about 1/8" to quicken the turn in a little.

Yes it does affect it a good bit. In a positive way to me. Others may disagree. I like The low compact feel of it. I have it just low enough to accept the clip on mounts, about 1.5". I wouldnt go any lower. It may bottom out with stock springs, but I will have racetech 1.1kg in there this week. That front end wont be going anywhere!

Not just the turn-in, but straight line stability. The more the front is dropped, the more it decreases the trail (less stability, but easier to initiate turns). I believe stock FZ6 has 25 degree rake, whereas most sport bikes have about 23 degree rake.. and 1" drop roughly equates to 1 degree of rake change. So a drop of as much as 2" seems perfectly reasonable (provided you make sure the fender won't bottom out on the horn under full compression.. or whatever is the first contact point up there).

Dave, you sure the clamp part of the clip-on is grabbing enough material?

Bicycle stems are mounted the same way to fork steerer tubes and general rule of thumb is for the center of upper bolt to be no higher than the top of the steerer tube. Looks like your upper bolts are a fair bit over the top of fork legs :don'tknow:

Looks awesome though!!

I don't think the rake is a problem but the weight transfer could change things.

I think clamping them under the top clamp instead of on top would allow for stock geometry but a longer riser would be needed for comfort.

hahahahaa... Good eye Erci! Actually, the pics were taken at fitment. The position you see is the what I have had them at for the last year+. I raised the forks an additional 1/4", so now the clamps sit just below the fork caps. Cudos bud! I'll take another pic at some point. I wanted to clip them under, however, they will not fit. Honestly, I already knew that going into it. But, like I said, I have been at a 1.25" fork rise for over a year and have never bottomed out. One stock springs!! I only had to raise another 1/4" and I am putting in racetech 1.1KG springs this week. NO WAY the front is going to bottom out, period!

You will have to raise the forks in the tripples approx 1.5". And a spring upgrade may be in order to ward off brake dive. I have the racetech 1.1kg springs and at 225lbs my front end doesnt drop! other than that no other mods are needed.

In order to do this you would have to either go without the front fairing/windscreen or mod it. You might also have an issue hitting the tank because on other sport bikes that have clip-ons have a narrow front to the gas tank to allow for full movement while the FZ's have a bigger front because it was unnecessary.
