    Is it Wrong?

Kinda an interesting moral dilemma. I know for instance that Chinese are reluctant to buy a house if someone has died in it. As long as you aren't Chinese, your conscience should be clear using that tire, safety of its unknown condition aside.

did i just do some serious damage?

My comment is about which you remove first, the red (positive) or the black (ground).

    Advisability of occassional riding

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I was intending to move my motoring interests from the FZ6 to an old British roadster, the MGB. Since the idea popped into my head a couple months back, I've been on the fence. Depending on how much I enjoyed my previous ride, I either wanted to keep the...

did i just do some serious damage?

Ooh, this thread reminds me of a question I was thinking of posting: when removing the battery leads, is it better to remove ground or positive first? I always remove groudn first. Reasoning: The only way to get shocked while handling the ground is to also somehow touch the positive lead...

    First Bike, First Crash

That sucks. Is it clear whose insurance is dealing with it? I've taken to consider parking lots practice for how slow I can ride and still keep the bike from toppling over. So little time and room to maneuver when that stuff inevitably happens. Happens with cars all the time too, but it's a...

    What did I do wrong?

First off - smart move on practicing emergency braking. That can be pretty exciting stuff. I've had my nearest incidents of almost dumping the bike doing it. What you are describing is a well known "feature" of the FZ6. Numerous us of have experienced, most commonly when downshifting through...

i thought red was the fastest, BUT...

What he said. The rim stripes are a good start towards balancing, though. With a single large piece of red, it almost looks like a part replacement that didn't match the original color, but with a bit more red splashed throughout, it would look very cool.

    Stolen Motorcycle

That sucks. That bike looks so tiny it seems as if you could almost throw it over your shoulder and walk away with it. I had a mountain biken stolen from a car rack it was bolted onto six years ago, with the car in my driveway. Thieves cut the padlock. I reported the serial number to the...

    Updated Employee Memorandum

True story: in the first company I worked for, someone in Operations published a memorandum to all employees which stated that our company was using more toilet paper per capita than our peer companies in our industry. We were encouraged to use less to save money. After that announcement, pretty...

    I had an accident today....

I also don't ride at night for that reason and others. I wonder if even the best headlights would pick up gravel or oil on the road. I sort of doubt it.

    I love my garage

Two strollers, two bikes. That is probably the right ratio to keep your sanity.

    Wrecked last Saturday 21st

Wow, that sounds pretty serious, but good that you'll make it through. Did you feel in retrospect, that you could have avoided the accident somehow? Going slower, paying more attention to be aware of the truck before he pulled out, ride in the left lane for more space cushion, etc? The...

what does the inside of our gas tank look like?

Get a gas siphon from an auto parts store. It's basically a hose with a hand pump in the middle. Costs $5 and takes 5 minutes to siphon out the gas. When you remove all the gas you can with the siphon, you can remove the quick connects and no gas will come out.

    Rate Your Own Visibility

12.5 here. That thing is BS. Interesting point - MSF doesn't think Loud Pipes Save Lives. Even though they do agree Loud Horns Save Lives.

    FZ8 Official picture

I think that single prism headlight is fugly. Fugly on all those bikes you metion. Looks too "transformerish" to me. Kinda neat and wierd looking, but not something I'd want to look at day in and day out, when transient style has moved on to some other bike component. I've heard it put forth...

    New car, or FZ1?

I'm not talking about driving/riding while wasted - agreed that's bad news all the way around. Everything I've ever read or heard about motorcycle safety says that you NEVER mix alcohol and riding. Not even one drink. While you can safely and legally operate a car with one drink an hour for...

    New car, or FZ1?

You'd have to be a real badass to have a bike be your only transport. I opt for car when the risk factors start piling up: when road is slippery from rain; when it's dark out and other commuters can't see me well; when it's the time of the night that drunk drivers are cruising around; when wind...

    Hardest technique to master

I suck at looking through the turns. I feel uncomfortable not being intimately aware of what the front tire is about to roll over. I tend to focus primarily on what is in front of me. I know I should be looking further ahead and "trusting" that the road immediately ahead of me is good 'cause I...

    I'm Back - bought a New 09 FZ6 today!

Please elaborate on why you decided to get out of riding. I'm kind of at that point myself right now. Would be interested to hear of your thought process, and what brought you back to it.

So you sold the 05 to get the other bikes? Or other reasons?
