Pic's of my neck and back surgery VERY GRAFICK

So I am confused. How did all this get started? Was there a previous injury that got infected? I noticed what look like multiple scars under your right arm.

That looks messed up man! Having gotten that out of my system, I can definitely say that I'll pray for you man! The guy up in the sky definitely likes you man! That looks to be pretty close to the event horizon (point of no return in black holes). Good luck and many more sunrises!

Wow, crazy pictures. First thought was cool you can almost see the upper spinal column, then thoughts moved to the gutter and I chuckled at the resemblance the female anatomy, but my most important thought on this is glad that you made it through and are recovering. Amazing story man.

What were your signs/symtoms? Anything chronic or was it all of a sudden? Would like to hear what led up to going to the white coats.

I moved to Florida in July of 07, i needed to find a PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR for my neck. Back in 2001 i was on a ladder and the step broke and fell about 10ft on my neck and snapped my spinal-cord in half. So that was the injury, what you seen in the pic's has nothing to do with the injury of 2007. As i said earlier i moved here to Florida in July of 2007. So now ii was looking for a PAIN DOC in Florida. I found one and he sent me for X-RAYS, CAT SCANS the whole 9 yards. So after looking at all the results he wanted to do EPIDURAL injection to the areas that i had pain in (I was getting the shots in NY with no problems). The first shot he gave me was on December 6th 2007 and was kinda painfully (all the others in NY never felt like this), 3 days later (on Thursday i was in MAJOR PAIN so i went to the ER where they gave me some pain meds and told me to tell my Doctor. So the next Monday I told the Doc what happened and he gave me another Epidural and trigger shots again, just like the first time i was back to the ER with the same problems but even more pain this time. Now the pain was even more then the first time, so i went to the ER on a Sunday (Christmas Eve) and the sent me for a MRI, about 30 minutes later i was surrounded by doctors and they said that i have to go for EMERGENCY SURGERY. I said "FOR WHAT", they told me that i had a puss pocket from C-2 (which is the Brian stem) down to T-7. From Christmas Eve which was a Monday that was the 1st Surgery, every Monday they did surgery until the 2nd week in February i had an operation. I kept getting worse. They said that if i don't go to "DENVER HEALTH AND NATIONAL JEWISH HOSPITAL I WILL DIE".
Make even longer story short, it wound up being the Doctor was using TAINTED SOLUTION AND MEDICINE". So the Doctor and the MANUFACTURE was responsible. After 10 surgeries and almost blowing up my PANCREAS, and Flat-lining 3 times, I am alive but have to be on pain meds and Antibiotics for the rest of my life.To keep the bacteria dormant and not active i need to be on meds for the rest of my live. So that's my story.
I know this has nothing to do with motorcycles, but it just shows that some of us go through hard times and for me the one thing i didn't want to stop was "MY FIZZER".

I hope you are cleaning out their wallets. You shouldn't ever have to work again and given this second (third and forth!) chance(s), you DESERVE to live every day to the fullest and not have to work to do it.

God speed to recovery! Glad you are here to post!

Hope things will only continue to get better for you. Is there any chance of compensation from the doctor who did this to you?

Wow, that is some story. We just don't know what's coming around the next bend, be it on a motorcycle or in life. You sound like an overcomer. I wish you the best, and a full and miraculous recovery.

Wow, that was intense. I'm glad that you are doing better and on the road to recovery. I hope that this doesn't flair back up on you. Ever. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering that you endured during all of this. So a big  to you.

P.S. Yeah, when I first saw the pics, I was wondering what a hoo-hoo had to do with neck and back surgery. :rof: Sorry, couldn't resist.

That's f'ing sick. Glad you're doing well.

Seems like it would have taken longer than a day or two for that bacteria to mess you up that bad, are they sure it was the FL doctor's mistake and not the NY doctor or the tat?

File a malpractic suit yet?

thanks all, and the doctor and pharmaceutical company are responsible, and yes there is a MAJOR lawsuit on both the Dr. & pharmaceutical company.

Good. I was going to say, make sure you talk to a lawyer, because once the statute of limitations runs on the tort, you're F'd, w/out a really good reason to fit in a loophole.

That would be considered a SERIOUS case of Streptococcus n. Although it is not contagious, it is ALWAYS present on human tissue at a trace level.

Certain enviromental stresses can cause it to reach the log cycle. Hydrogen peroxide can't kill it.

You meant Strep pyogenes, right?

Nothing like a solid case of Necrotizing Fasciitis to make you realize how precious life is. I'm glad to hear you sought medical attention as quickly as you did. As mentioned above, most people don't see the doctor until it is too late.

Live each day like it's your last guys and gals. This is a perfect example of why I live by this moto. You never know when life will cut you short.

While I am glad you are pursueing compensation for all of your pain and suffering, I have to ask this question. Was the doctor aware that the solution from the pharmaceutical company was tainted? Was it expired? etc.

The reason I am asking is that I do this procedure all of the time in my practice and have NEVER had something like this happen to one of my patients. Granted, infection is always a risk for the epidural procedures and is discussed with all patients.

What I am getting at is whether it is the doctor's fault or the pharmaceutical company or both? If nothing would lead the doctor to believe the solution was anything but safe, how is it his fault?

I am not asking to stir the pot of emotions here. I am asking so that I may prevent this from occurring to any of my patients. G-d knows I wouldn't want any of my patients to go through what you have gone through.

I hope you are doing better and enjoying some riding time.
