1995 Suzuki RM125. Loved that bike.

I learned on a Honda XR 80 and XR 100, and probably rode my friend's dad's YZ426 as much as I rode my RM. I got rid of the dirtbike and got a Suzuki GS500. Rode that for a year then sold it to a friend and got the FZ.

*giggle* Bryan's going to love this...

Motorcycle? 1972 Honda SL-125 that I bought brand new at a Honda dealer that was located in an old house in Sebring, Florida. We brought the thing home on a set of bumper racks on the back of a 1964 1/2 Mustang. That was the longest 150 miles of my life...

Before that was a mini-cycle. A 1970 Honda CT-70 mini-trail, not unlike the one in the photo.

After the SL a looong string of mostly Japanese and a few European motocross bikes followed and they were followed by an even longer string of over the road semi's and many years of no motorcycles.

We changed all that in 1992 when a then five year old Bryan got a 1989 Honda Z50R for his birthday (ain't he cute?) and since we couldn't have the kid riding alone in the woods with-out his dear old Dad, I got a 1988 Honda XR600R for Bryan's birthday!

What has followed since these two is another loooooong line of really neat motorcycles, and I hope there are many more in our future!

Bruce

Last January at the tender age of 31, I told my grandpa I wanted to borrow his old bike to learn to ride. He just gave it to me. It's a 1985 Honda 185XL. Even after upgrading to FZ6, I still rode it once a week at least. (I say 'rode' as I am out of the country and cannot ride any bikes right now....) But I still have it and have no intentions of getting rid of it or stop riding it.

My first bike was a lil 50 cc Yamaha. I was 5 yrs old and my grandmother told me I'd kill myself on it and they'd shovel dirt in my face. I didn't ride it anymore after that. Years later my dad got me a XR100 and that was followed by a CR125. Years later yet again I bought a 1991 Bandit 400 which I rode nearly 3 yrs and then this last August I got my FZ6. I love my FZ :)

1973 Kawasaki 250 Enduro, got it in '94 or '95. I paid a friend $20 for the bike; it was taken apart and the pieces were laying in the dirt in his backyard. I had never owned or worked on a bike before, but dug all the pieces out of the dirt and put it back together. Most of it was there and worked, just needed some TLC, especially the carb. Got it up and running in his backyard and rode it home. Best part is as soon as it started up, he told me he'd give me my $20 back for it. I said something to him that I can't repeat on the forum and took off. First time I had ridden a bike too.

Notice the seat mod. The vinyl was cracked and the padding was exposed. Since I didn't have money for upholstery, I took a pair of black jeans I didn't want anymore and cut the leg open, put the denim over the seat and clamped it down (the seat was hinged on one side so I just flipped the seat over, put the denim on, and slammed the seat down on it. It held rather well).

Not sure if this counts, but I had a thing called a bikebug on a Huffy Thunder Road when I was a kid. My first motorcycle was a 1982 Honda Nighthawk 450.
