Transmission Whine ??

Hi guys, For once it's been a decent sunny day here in England so I took my 2006 FZ6 out for a spin.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks and normally ride with earplugs in, I forgot them today and noticed a definate whine, road speed, not engine speed related. The bike has only done 2400 miles so is hardly broken in.

Do they normally whine a bit? or is it something to return it to the dealer about d'ya reckon?

Peter - how old are you? If you're under 20 you may be hearing things that the rest of us actually are NOT ABLE to hear - because high frequency hearing goes away very fast with age... MY bike whines but it is definitely transmission in my case and not objectionable.

i too notice a pretty obvious whine...its almost embarrassing at times because it sounds like a sewing machine or something. loosened the chain no difference, loosened the chain out of spec, same whine! tightened back to spec, same whine. i guess i will just have to get some scorps to drown it out!

i just finished doing the 520 chain conversion, along with -1 & +2. I here nothing, but the motor and the scorpions sound insane. I hear now whines at all. I will take it for a short ride with no helmet to hear anything.
