Cush drive studs...help

I was changing my rear sprocket and when I was torquing the sprocket nuts back on with my torque wrench set at 72 ft/lb as per manual, I manage to stretch the threads on one of the studs. :spank: So now I need to get this stud out any ideas on how I can accomplish that????
I tried the double nut trick but no go. Also for those who change there rear sprockets before what torque setting have you set your wrench to??

I'd think removing the cush assembly from the rear wheel, and taking it to a machine shop with a hydraulic press would be best. Press out the damaged stud, and press in the replacement. No muss, no fuss.... and no chance of whacking the cush drive assembly by mis using tools to do this.

Shouldn't cost more than a few dollars for the work.

I'm not sure how much the new stud will cost, or the cost for install, but I have a full cush-drive from an 07' that I would be willing to give up for like $10?? + shipping.

An option if the new stud does not work out.

I just picked up new studs and nuts, now the grunt work begins. I'm thinking of welding the old nuts on to the top of the studs creating somewhat of a bolt and then using a socket wrench to unscrew the entire stud out of the hub assembly. Hopefully I wont damage the hub by doing this.
If it fails I'll be contacting you for that cush drive.

Do NOT try to press them out, they are threaded!!
They can be removed without damaging the sprocket carrier... read here:

EDIT: I tightened the new studs to 45 ft./lb. 20K miles without issues.
