Following Fizzer6's DIY from Sportsbikes.net, I attempted the same retrofit on my headlights this weekend. The projectors and ballast are from a nissan FX 45. Here are some pictures of what I've done so far. More to come after I finish wiring.

Out-Freak'n-Standing!!! Wow... that's good as OEM job. Awesome pics as well. A writeup is much appreciated. And how do they light up?

Awesome. My goal is to also do this this summer.

makanouchi, do you think E55 projectors would fit in the FZ6 headlights? According to HID Planet, they are only about 13mm longer and 5mm longer from lens to mounting point

Hella 2nd Gen Bi-Xenon (aka E55):
Diameter = 79.80mm
Height = 96.95mm
Width = 106.15mm
Length = 163.35mm
Length(seat of the lens to possible mounting holes) = 58.80mm
Length(possible mounting holes to end of bulb) = 83.90mm
Width(between top mounting holes) = 77.25mm
Width(between bottom mounting holes) = 93.25mm
Height(between mounting holes) = 58.90mm

Infinity FX35/45 Bi-Xenon (aka FX):
Diameter = 69.20mm
Height = 105.10mm
Width = 111.80mm
Length = 150.70mm
Length(seat of the lens to mounting holes) = 54.60mm
Length(mounting holes to end of bulb) = 72.10mm
Mounting hole distances are not measured beacuse most people
would make their own and cut-off stock brackets.

Those projectors should fit fine, I still had about another inch of clearance before hitting the plastic cover.

Nice job Mach! How did you make the plastic panels that mount the projectors to the stock adjuster screws? When I did my R6 projectors, this was the hardest and most time consuming part of the job. I also made mine out of sheet metal and had less room to work with since they are double projectors on each side.

The plastic panels came off the old reflector. I also though I had to fab them as well and was not looking forward to it but as it turns out, they were already there. I'll take some more detailed pictures when I get a chance.

how did that go with the r6 lights?

That's interesting. Perhaps they changed that in the years after my 06 because the stock reflectors all had metal brackets behind them when I pulled mine apart. Plastic would have been a lot easier to work with had it been like yours.:thumbup:

The projectors have a very nice cut off line. The brightness difference is literally day and night. I mounted the ballasts in the fairing under the headlights.
