Tips on how to be a good rider video

It made me laugh. Funny stuff with at least a little but of truth in it for most Harley riders. Thanks for sharing.

    Bike Protection

I am more concerned about no speed or low speed dropping of the bike. I accept there is risk of bike damage from any crashes at speed. That's why I have insurance. I am also on the cheap side and the Shogun frame sliders at $40 are fine for me. Good luck whichever direction you go!

    Newbie

Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of good info here. I just bought my black 08 FZ6 with 14K miles in great condition from an individual for $3,500 in November. Yours would have lower miles and from a dealer I think about $3,900 to $4,000 would be fair. I am 6'3" and 225# and suspension is fine...

Where do you sit on your bike?

I think it depends on your size, butt size, and the type of riding. At 6'3" and 225#, I usually sit all the way back. It's easier on my old knees.

help finding a jacket for a tall fat guy

Take a look at this. FirstGear TPG Rainier Jacket - 2010 (Brown/Sand) :: MotorcycleGear.com You may or may not like the color, but it's a great 3/4 length touring jacket. Regularly $500 on closeout for $232. They are in stock in 2xl tall and 3xl (this morning anyway). Good company to do...

    Oil change FZ6

May work, but I'm not going to chance it. The way in the owners manual seems to work great for me. There's a good how to thread in the forum also. My view is if you wait a few minutes extra for the oil to drain you get enough out. If the 5% or less of oil you can't get out has some impurities...

    2006 fz6...good deal???

I agree with callmegandi above. I bought my 2008 FZ6 with 14K miles in excellent condition for $3,350 in November. My last bike sold year ago was an FJR 1300. The FZ is tame in the low rpms and has good power in the 7-8K and up rpms. I didn't really have to use that many rpms on the FJR and am...

    BMW Opinion

Do your research. Use google and try to find an owners manual. Look at the normal service requirements in the owners manual. Try some BMW forums and ask the question if this model has any known recurring issues. I think BMWs are good motorcycles with expensive parts if they break. The more...

    New rider

The FZ6 can be a good starter bike IF you can exercise reasonable throttle control. I had been without a motorcycle for over 20 years while raising my kids. I came back with a bike equivalent to the FZ6, stepped up to the FJR 1300, and now with a FZ6 since wife does not like to ride any more...

    I have to write...

You can make it through this. I did.I was married over 9 years with 3 sons aged 7,2 and 1 when we divorced. I was 31 years old. That was almost 30 years ago (I am 59 years old). Many years of distance allows some perspective. I am now very close to my 3 sons and have been happily married for 21...

Server crash - PLEASE POST PROBLEMS

Thanks for getting the site back up. I could finally get on this morning. The AT&T DNS server could still not find you this morning. I switched to the Google DNS server and WOW there you were. There are probably still members that can't connect to the site because the DNS servers are not synched...

    How to reach the battery

I have done this several times. I recommend removing the inner fairings which are held on with 2 hex bolts each. The inner fairings can be removed in less than 5 minutes total. Another 5 to put back on. Then you can remove the 2 bolts at front of tank and tilt it back. I use a piece of 2x4 about...

    Increasing FZ6 Top Speed

From about 86 rwhp to 100 rwhp is a lot to ask. You may be able to do it with enough mods, but I don't know if that's a cost effective route. Good luck.

    Holiday parts/gear

I have been looking at luggage, but had not yet found these saddlebags. Costs more than most, but quality looks excellent. Thanks for the info.

    Wearable airbags

When I was at Welcome to Crashbounce.com: official U.S. Distributor for Hit-Air Products a few weeks ago, they had some Hit Air closeout vests for $249. I now see that the cheapest hi-viz vest is $299. You can pick up a vest at Armored Air Jackets Motorcycle jacket with airbag protection! for...

    Wearable airbags

I did some internet research on the Hit Air and Armored Air systems. I found some Fox and ABC news reports on You Tube where they claimed lives were saved with these in crashes. They look promising, but I am on the fence. The vests start about $249 on sale. Search You Tube for the news reports...
