My son has been here for 2 weeks on holiday and we got to do a few rides for the first time. He has a Honda 600rr at home in Jersey but we borrowed a Ducati Monster fro a friend of mine. We stuck the Gopro Cam on it and did a little ride up Palomar.

Edit: Keep your volume down cuz the music is loud!

Enjoy!
Cliff

Great vid Cliff, and a great road  I hope I can do something similar with my daughters when they get older

Thank you, He's a good rider and the feeling of riding with him was awesome. He had a great time which made it even better. I got three separate bee stings that day and I'm allergic but wouldn't stop the ride. He would laugh harder each time we stopped and i asked him for his pocket knife to remove the stingers. He thought I was joking! Haha! I had to go to the doctor and Doc said 5 days of steroids for you buddy.
Two days later I asked him if he wanted to watch me kill more bees and he started laughing, telling me how crazy I was and said,"Yeah let's go" I did much better with a bandana around my neck!

Haha, wow. You earned that one with all them bees. Nice vid! I need to ride Palomar sometime soon, but this is the first time I've seen what it has to offer.

Nice vignetting for the mad dash into the sun at the end -very surreal.

Thanks, Yeah the end was a surprise. We were toasting Scripps Poway Prkwy. He put that in the video from our last leg returning home after the ride.
Hope we get to see you on the group ride that's planned Sept 12 or13th.

Later,
Cliff

What a cool video and an awesome day! I wish my two boys would ride. They both (admittedly) will not because they absolutely know they will not control the throttle. Good for them for recognizing it though!

Now, my upcoming Granddaughter? I intend to start her REAL young on bikes and hope to see her take enough interest to maybe even race one day. :D My daughter is supportive of getting her to ride as she herself wants to take the BRC after she has the baby and get her own bike. I'm starting a hunt for a good used Nighthawk as she's kinda fallen for that bike. :D

My son has two bikes and one is a Ninja 250. His daughter (my grand daughter) will no doubt be on the 250 soon. Yeah!

Thanks for sharing..... haven't been up that one since '88 or '89.... doesn't look to have changed all that much. That's nice to see.

Yeah, there are no intersecting roads on that Grade and just a few driveways. Fun place to ride and best on weekdays because it can get a little busy on the weekend.

Here's a pic of Jay on the Ducati w/ GoPro Cam...

That last clip at the end of the video as one member put it "Mad Dash Into the Sun" how fast were you going? Looks like you were going pretty damn fast.

I won't reveal that. Let's say we did a video trick! Hahaha! We spun our reels faster haha

Only if I could ride the Fiz out there and show you guys a thing or two.... :D just kidding, ive gotten noticeably slower on the streets after a few track days.

I ride pretty regular out there and have to admit it does sharpen certain skills but it's kinda weird when returning to traffic. I have to turn off the 'theme park fun ride' part of my brain and turn on the 'your back in civilization and traffic' part. Those roads out back are asphalt therapy for me.

Incredible video - thanks for sharing! I wish I knew some roads like that here in the Northeast. Damn! If you only knew how much I wanna move ito Cali ... argh :banghead:

As for starting your grandkids young - I wish my dad did that with me! If I have kids one day they're getting on the saddle before they know how to walk!!!

This is a great place to ride but we're dealing with fires right now. When I say fire, it's hard for someone to realize, unless they've been through one, how bad it can get. Still wouldn't trade it for anyplace else.....

I made my grand daughter drive our Jeep in the desert. One of the reasons I did it was to give her better survival skills. She was afraid at first but once she was rolling she wouldn't stop. Same thing on a little quad. We got her on a little automatic and when she left, that was it, we could see her circling in the hills, in the distance and I had to borrow a bike and try to chase her down but when she saw me she laughed at me and boogied! Hahaha!
