maybe i'll go there and give them a hard time about it :)

you did a good job with that bike in the year that you had it, I can't wait to see what you do to the 1 now

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

just out of curiosity what did they give you for it?

I got $3900 for the bike then another $700 off the new bike THEN, made them throw in the tax, title, doc fees, etc... another $382.... So, I got $4982 in my book with all the mods on it. Most I did not care about, but that seat still urks me. If I had time, I would have driven it to some other FZ6 owner's house and traded it with their stock seat just so they didn't get it... but in the end, another FZ6 owner will be VERY happy with it!

I'm looking at the lower cowl, TS seat, and powder coating of the rear sets, pillion pegs and brackets, and top triple so they all match the wheel color just to make it unique instead of all blacked out like the FZ6 was. Still up in the air about the screen...

Dang it Eric! Why couldn't you just take that lower cowl off before you took the bike in! :( Any chance you can get over there and ahem...take back the cowl? :D It also matches the color of my bike!

Oh, I can get over there, but I'm sure I'd get arrested. :D So, now I need a new one too... for the FZ1. :(

Oh that will look sweet! I already love the color of the wheels on your bike. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

Someones jaw is going to drop when they see that sucker

They will probably go through that "i must have it" stage that we all went through, buy it, join the forum, and im guessing ask which kinda oil to put in it.

Yes! But at least we won't have to have them mod the airbox, put on sliders, warn them a headlight is out, listen to them complain about the seat, ask what the best FE Kit is, tell them how to install the Battery Tender leads, de-stickering howto, or how to break it in. Whew! :D

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

I just noticed they even left the minimad faux CF Yamaha stickers on the swingarm too! Cool! UK represents!

With it being late, and me being a tad slap happy, I cant stop laughing at that!! thats classic right there

Hey, that's your old bike? I just might take a ride up to Freedom Cycle in Concord. I'm in S. NH and looking for a FZ6 (I love the dark blue and would love some extras and would love to buy used).

Anything bad happened to the bike? I hope you don't mind revealing since you don't own her anymore. Also, now I know what they paid so I can negotiate better. :D

Thanks,

Dennis

Yes, that was my bike. She's in excellent shape, never had any problems, well maintained, never dropped and loaded with options so you don't have to mod it much. That seat alone is the single best upgrade you'll ever find! I miss that seat!

Reiobard sent a guy there and they didn't budge on the price, but I think if you are forceful enough and even push to speak with the sales manager, you can work a deal. I may be biased, but if it is a used FZ6 you are looking for, this one is it. Any of the forum members who have ridden with me know I take care of my machines.

Please let us know how it goes with them. :D Good luck!

Hm... are you one of those anal freaks that keeps things clean and even likes to ensure the rims are spotless just so when you rub them, they feel smooth and your finger stays clean? what a weirdo. Hey, sounds like me. If this is true, this may be a serious bike to consider for me.

Did you break it in well?

Can you please provide a list of upgrades/mods you did?

I'll buzz them tomorrow. Anyone I should talk to at Freedom Cycle or just any sales person?

Where do you ride? I'm in S. NH -- maybe I'll see you around.

Thanks,

Dennis

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

Well, I wouldn't say I was anal about it outside of the chain anyway but she got a bath when needed and always stayed lubed. I ran Rotella Synthetic only through it, changing it a bit more frequently than necessary. She was ridden with a proper break-in and it doesn't use a drop of oil.

Let me see if I can remember it all:
Top Saddlery Seat
Yamaha factory lower cowl
LuckyIrishBoy peg inserts for both rider and pillion
Battery Tender Jr.
Puig smoked racing DB windscreen
dual headlight mod
mild airbox mod so it can breathe better
tank protector
blacked out the rear pegs, radiator covers, exhaust cover
Custom faux carbon fiber swingarm decals from the UK (thanks minimad!)
Shogun frame sliders
FAZR6 Fender Elminator Kit

I think that is it. They seem to think it will sell for $6k. I paid $6418 OTD when it was new. With what they gave me for it, you should get it for $5k give or take a couple hundred bucks. Be sure to pressure the crap out of them and don't be afraid to back down.

It is a very solid and clean bike. You can't go wrong if this is what you're looking for because a lot of the mods are taken care of. Any other mods, we can help you up here (See the Busted Knuckle Garage threads)

I am in the Seacoast, living in Dover, working in Portsmouth. We've got several members all around us and quite a few more in MA. We've got one close by in Maine.

If you do strike a deal, keep me informed. Maybe we can get Pondrat (who bought my '05 FZ6), you and me together. I can have a reunion of all my recent Yamaha rides!

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

I can vouch for Eric and the way he takes care of his bikes! Try giving them a bit of a hassle about the price, I bought my 2007 with 0 miles on it for what they are asking. I did send someone there to look at the bike and got what i am guessing is a new sales guy, because he was the first person i have ever sent to that shop to not leave satisfied with the sales staff.

good luck with the haggling and i will try to get the sales guy's name that my friend got so you can avoid him.

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

So FZ1inNH, I found out that you're a woman that stands 4' 11" and you had the bike for 6 months and you and your husband buy bikes and trade them in every year. I also heard you paid $7300 for the bike. Is that all true? :D

They got down to $5750 out the door and delivered to my house; I offerred $5200; $5300 for me is a done deal but not sure how close they can come to that. They're real big on me coming over to show I'm really serious about buying and they'll take a personal check.

Dennis

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

$5300 wouldn't be a bad deal at all considering what it has and what was done. Head on over and really hammer them about the price. If they are sticking, get them to throw in stuff like a helmet, gear, maintenance, etc....

:rof: Well, ONE of those is right... we've almost traded up every year but have yet to make it a full two years on a bike. I'm not going to say I won't get rid of the FZ1 at some point... ;)

Good luck and I hope you get this one! It would be nice to see a forum member on that bike!

Re: 2008 FZ6 for sale...

From what I've seen from the site the TS seat for FZ1 look fugly though it may be the best. The sargent is good but not super good like the TS. I am getting my stock seats done by spencer...
