From what I've seen from the site the TS seat for FZ1 look fugly though it may be the best. The sargent is good but not super good like the TS. I am getting my stock seats done by spencer...

Yeah, the TS FZ1 isn't a looker and makes me wonder if it will jamb me too far forward. I am also going to try Spencer, even thought of getting a second stock seat to send out to him so I'm not without a seat to ride. Ron Ayers has the whole rider seat for $88.00! :steve:

Did you get his name? I don't understand why they will not budge more... They only had to clean it and put tires on it... that is IT! There was nothing else required for that bike to be salable. Even at $5300 that would make at least $400 profit based on my account of the transaction that got them the bike.

Tell them you know the previous owner if they still refuse to budge... tell them you've discussed the bike at great length with me. THEN see what they are willing to do.

Davie is the name; he said he's been there 3 years (hopefully this is not a lie too). I'm afraid if I tell him I know you, I might start laughing when he has to back pedal on the 5' 4" woman story and how they added all those mods

That might not be a bad thing though, if you catch him in a lie then he is more likely to work with you, also they might have thought that Eric's wife owned the bike... she is not vertically gifted AND is a woman...

Also i found out that the guy that was a dink the other day to my other friend was Steve, so don't deal with him.

Seems that way but they are looking for a lot more than that with this used bike. It helps to know how much the previous owner was given for it.

I would not divulge that you know the previous owner. Nor that you know what they paid for the bike. That's your ace in the hole. Don't show your cards just yet. I paid $5400 for a stock 08 with 425 miles on it this year.

$5750 is a good price for what you are getting but there's no reason to pay that. Walk in there with $5400 CASH (do your own financing if you have to) and tell em that's the OTD price. Leave with one hell of a bike. Ride with your new buds. Live happily ever after.

Well, turns out I'm the new owner of this bike :cheer:.

I ended up paying $5600 OTD (including title fees, etc). I'll pick it up when it's not raining.

They've got new tires on there that need scrubbing and I don't think wet roads are the best place for that.

I was targetting $5300 as done deal and went up to $5400 because the bike seemed good. The bike looked great and when I sat on it, it felt like home -- those grips and seat really did it for me. You already had the frame sliders, tank pad and Puig shield (which I would've had to buy) and that underbelly thing (which I love but would not have bought after I saw the prices). Plus, that dark blue has always been my favorite color. The blackened out passenger pegs are awesome (so I don't have to remove them to "clean up" the back of the bike).
I think you said you did the dual headlight mod to which I would've done and you are anal about keeping the bike maintained and clean. The new tires were nice to have and gives the bike the "new" feel. Plus, I dreaded "break in" period.

The only bad thing was a few scratches on the right peg heel guard (I'll be sure to put some of my own ) and the scratches on the rear paint (behind the passenger seat area where he said you had a touring bag).

All in all, this bike looked great, was setup to what I like and I wanted it. Plus all of you here saying good things about that previous owner didn't hurt. So, take your $200 and keep it 'cause I'm walking away with a sweet bike. I can only justify the $200 by saying, if I would've gotten a new 2008, I would've had to shop on ebay, etc. and wait for the USPS, FedEx, or UPS to deliver, installation, etc. But it's all there. Maybe I might need a handlebar Ram mount. Plus, they took my personal check and so I didn't have to go to the bank, etc.

Anyway, I'm cool with $5600 -- not sure it's a great deal but doesn't feel too bad and the bike rocks. Oh, yea, it's already broken in, so after a little practice, I look forward to playing with her. Still have to come up with a name after I get know her personally.

BTW, in the end, I almost walked, but I dealt with the sale manager Rod and that helped things a lot.

I'm pretty excited. Now to download the user manual and figure this thing out well before I first ride it .

I don;t think he bought anything, just got annoyed at Steve (we will call him dink from now on) and started dealing with Davie.

I think i know Dave and he seems like a good guy. I have not met this Steve character, but he is not impressing me through hearsay so far, after my buddy from work buys a brand new bike from Rochester Motorsports (he refuses to go back to Freedom Cycle because of this Steve guy) i am going to talk to the sales manager about him. I do too much recommending of that shop risk my reputation on a dink sales guy, and not that i work for them or anything, but i have sent people there that have purchased at least 5 bikes from them in 2 years and it could have been 6... and i will stop sending people there if they aren;t taking care of them

Way to go!!! For all it has, you still got a pretty good deal! Congrats! That is awesome!

If you had gotten an unmodded one for the $5200 you would have had to do the following:

Puig = 69.99 + SH
Top Saddlery Seat = $350 +/- depending on sale, custom order and exchange rate
LuckyIrishBoy peg inserts - $70
Yamaha Lower Cowl = $299.95
FAZR6 FE Kit = $59.95 +SH
Tank protector = $15
various other items dealing with lights, paint, etc... = $45
Frame Sliders = $55 + SH

Plus all the time and labor to put it all together....

Yes, the heel plates did get some workout but those can be replaced cheap or just powder coated to last even longer. And the tail bag and saddle bags did scuff up the finish on the tail, side pods and under the grab rails but the good news is, it's all plastic and won't rust.

I'm glad to see you bought it and you're happy with it. It really is a sweet machine! Enjoy it and I hope to catch up with you soon for some photos together.

Now do you see why I'm upset about the seat?

Regarding that list: you are I are very much alike -- I just got done making a list just like that and prices almost match! I think I said sliders were $40 but close enough.

I think your old bike will feel happy in comfortable surroundings. It will be with family -- Yamaha Vstar 1300 and a Yamaha C3 grand piano.

Oh and that seat -- I understand completely. I sat on a stocker and it was nice but that seat was just plain "yea baybay" :rockon:.

Hopefully, we'll meet some time.

During Winter 30 degrees F, I'm the only one out on I95N headed towards Maine just to see the lighthouse near Kittery; black jacket, black touring pants -- black Vstar 1300T or FZ6 blue (maybe -- we'll see how cold one gets and if I have room for my heated jacket and gloves controller). In Summer, I'm up near Portsmouth, NH every few weeks just for a great ride North.

Well, I live in Dover and am 12 miles from Portsmouth, plus I work in Portsmouth. I'm sure we can meet for some coffee and talk about the rides, NH or life in general.

My daughter is jealous... a C3 Grand? Sweet! And way to go with the 1300!

As for the heated stuff on the FZ6, be careful, the bike doesn't have a lot of power to spare for accessories.

You got a bike that was cared for greatly and you will enjoy it. Now... on the list of mods that you still need to do are the Raceteck fork springs and thicker fork oil. it is a night and day difference! Only bad news for you is that i own and installed the set that was originally bought for that bike :rockon:, but give a shout and we can help you put them in when you get them, (after doing 1 set on mine, we are all old pro's at it now )

Once again, glad that you got it because my other buddy is buying a 2009 Yamaha Raider now and is very excited about it (although he is buying from Rochester Motorsports and NOT from Freedom)

I still love Freedom as my shop!

Don't put the anxiety of "post buyers remorse" or did I pay too much. It sounds like you got a great bike and a couple years from now after many miles of enjoyment you will not give it another minutes thought.. Enjoy, sounds like a great bike, well set up, so ride ride ride.
