I wave to everyone but scooters/mopeds and Harleys. Harley riders never wave back, so gave up on them. I guess your to cool to wave if you ride one (a Harley), lol.
Im looking at tires, wondering what is the best tire for "millage" and stick. I want something that will last a long time but still stick really well. Im new to Sportbikes, Ive always been a Dunlop guy with Motocross, but this isnt dirt! All responses apreciated very much from all you...
Well, I decided to go ahead and try a little Plexus on a older but clean microfiber towel and I gotta tell ya - Wow! It took off the grime easily and left the finish nice and new. Bonus - dust, grime, etc. doesnt seem to stick now and what does wipes off very easy. Plexus was originally designed...

Thanks for all the responses everyone! I love my FZ6 and this Forum! Im heading out on a long ride in the Idaho mountains right now, Im sure my bike (back rim) will be a mess to clean when I get back. I will try all suggestions and then choose what works best. Thanks Again!
O.K., what do you use to keep your rims lookin new? Im a detail freak, I take pride in the - wow how sharp ur bike looks, looks like new! Specially the back rim, dirt, dust, everything seems to stick to it. Can I use Plexus to protect the paint of the rim as well as repell dust, dirt, and chain...
I tried Plexus and I love it! A bit spendy but I dont care when it comes to the care of my bike! I cant see using anything else now that Ive tried it. PLEXUS ROCKS
Thanks everyone for all comments and advice! Bikes running great - Filled it with some Chevron 91 octane and the more I ride it the better it runs. She's purring, idleing and excellerating smooth, and screaming on top! I might try Seafoam instead of Stabil for storage this winter. I will check...
Id like to get a little more bark out of my bike as well, but Im nervous bout doin this. I dont have the xtra $ right now to replace with aftermarket if I dont like the sound. Just got my FZ6 and love it but it is quite, sounds like a jet till u open it up.
Im curious what everyone uses to keep there dash like new on there FZ6's? Im really into keeping my stuff lookin new and not sure whats best to keep the plastic lookin new and resist sun fade. Ive used Honda brite on my motocross bikes but thats a different plastic. This is more like a car...
Thanks for the response PhotoAl! Ive never used either but I just bought the bike (showroom cond. 08 FZ6 w only 4600 miles) and it had been sitting for a few weeks or so. It was suggested to me to that it wouldnt hurt to run some seafoam threw it. Im not sure if I should or not. Im riding...
Whats the best fuel treatment for a bike - Seafoam, Lucas fuel treatment etc. and how often should it be used as well as how safe is it for my FZ6 motor? I use Stabil for winter storage for all my vehicles.
Everyone keeps saying 1300 rpm's and I had the same question when I bought my 08 FZ6 just last weekend. I asked my local Yamaha dealer what's spec - they said 900-1250, so why does everyone keep saying 1300? Mine was set at 1000, I turned it up to about 1200 and it seems to run a little better...
2 fingers on both brake and clutch! I tend to always have those fingers on both at all times riding in town. Out of town/HWY/FWY, I tend to still keep 1 finger on brake for safety.
Im using a motocross helmet and goggles myself. I know some say it doesnt look right, but Im comfy in it coming from motorcross. I plan on buying my 1st full face street bike helmet, but I dont like the feel when I put them on and I get that same closed in feeling that your talkin about. I hope...
Well, bike seems to be running fine now! My idle was at 1000, I turned it up to around 1200 now. I was told by Yamaha that factory spec. is 900-1250. They seem to think it was bad gas and or carbs slightly out of sync. Hard to tell cuz issue seems to have gone away. I THINK IT WAS BAD/OLD GAS...
Thanks everyone again! Awesome Forum here. Temps have droped here as of yesterday and it seems to run better when not so hot. I will look into all advice mentioned above! My idle was low, about 1000, so its at 1300 now and seems better. Also, I am at about 3,000 ft elevation in Boise for those...
