When you're going for a ride and it's 37 degrees, do not ride 2 hours North

Heated gear or not, I got very cold today.. still had a great ride :D

It was almost 60 here on Friday....and we did the same thing. Not north, but "up".
It was comfortable down here at 7,000 ft. but when you get up to 10,000 ft. ish, it got cold!
But it's all good, right? Anytime you can get a bike out in December is good!

As long as it is dry I ride. It's wet here in Poland now and about zero degrees Celcius so the wet roads tend to be slippery. But next Saturday is predicted to be warm and dry enough to make a December run. I have two ideas for photos ;-)

When I was in college I rode regardless of the temperature. There were mornings when I was so cold that my desk rattled from my shivering.

When I was in my 30's I'd ride right down to the freezing mark.

In my 40's I began to get a bit more conservative and made 40 my low temperature threshold.

Now in my mid-fifties...well you can guess where my cut-off is.

The good news is that I'll be riding in some very warm weather when in my 80's.

LOL.. nice approach. Yeah, I'm 40 and I definitely find it a bit harder to tolerate the cold these days. However, anything above freezing .. I'll still ride. Being cold on the bike is better than not being on the bike at all

I won't ride below -10, so this was well within my range last year. This year, I've ridden in the low teens. Fortunately, haven't hit the single digits yet.

Wow, I can't ride below +26F as my faceshield frosts over, how do you keep that clear?

No helmet.

Joking of course, but helmets are optional here, just like Utah.

Actually, they have heated pane visors. I don't have one, but it's very common for snowmobile riders.

I believe it was about 15F this day! Though really it was only that cold from 10,000- 14,000 ft. Down below that in Colorado Springs it was clost to 65F

I drove into the snow bank for a good photo!
Picture was @ Pikes Peak

Rode at 19F once on the FZ6. It was not that bad with the right gear but far from enjoyable. So now I use the 2 coldest months of winter to get some maintenance and modifications done on the bike instead!

Cold is a real Bugger. Wind chill is the defining factor. I once set off from Reading to Birmingham (UK) on a beautiful afternoon in September. I had just got my first mesh jacket and was determined to give it a trial. Riding at motorway speeds I soon had to stop and put a base layer and my waterproofs on. I had let myself get to cold and out took me ages of soaking in the tub to warm up.
