The "Off Topic" thread...

Thats a good idea, its better to go for a casual ride which can be 2 minutes, or 2 hours depending how you feel, rather than going somewhere, otherwise your stuck with a whole trip there and back even if you feel uncomfortable!

Just remember if you get on the bike and feel the urge to buy something else... like an XJR1300 you've probably suffered undiagnosed mental damage and should see a doctor asap!
On the bright side if this does happen as long as your staying with a Yamaha the damage can't be too bad!

You could also do some practice runs! Wheel the bike out into the driveway, give it a quick clean/polish, then jump on and pretend your riding, although I would advise against trying to lean as it may end badly.
Not only will you become reaccustomed to your bike, but you'll also give everyone in the neighborhood some entertainment!
Loud Vroooming noises may help to keep it realistic.
You're just asking for it, aren't ya........

(Don't tell Prebstar and Humpy, but, after riding the XJR, it's REALLY nice to ride :))

It's still an armchair...am surprised the XJ's dont have a holster for the ol walking stick!!!

Now i know that comment is gonna come back to haunt me in Tassie at some point!!! :scared:

You got that right  Downloaded to memory bank

Dont worry, i am up for it! :D

I ALWAYS speak sense Dan. After all, I am a female Rossi fan  :cheer:

:ban:, Rossi will win the World Championship this year she says....not much sense there! was never gonna happen...Lorenzo had his name on the Championship about 2 weeks into the season, much like Casey in 07!

My partner, Jess, is thinking of getting a scooter to ride to work on...so today i took a Yamaha Bee Wee 100 for a test ride...what a hoot, 100cc two stroke, automatic gearbox, big fat tyres, top speed of about 90km/h...and i can get a brand new one for $700 less than the current sale price of $3000 that Yamaha is advertising for this model...

makes a fair bit of sense for us inner city types...i could even use it to get to gigs...

Does anyone know much about these scooters,or scooters in general, is this a good deal???

Kel started with the Honda @125 scooter 22488_0_1_2_@125_Image%20credits%20-%20Honda.jpg which has evolved into the PCX125 & that was a hoot aswell , similar pricing & would hold 105kph on the highway  It was actually that scooter the heralded my return to motorcycles  after a lengthy stay away , took it for one 15 thrash around the block & bought my FZ 2 days later :D

Well, we aint going to the Grampians...but we are going for a decent ride this arvo...weather is sorta ok in Adelaide, not too dire...so i think we are going to do a quick 300km ride this arvo....basically a very decent sized lap of the the hills surrounding Adelaide from far south, back to the north, then home....best bit is, it's all twisty, no straight bits!

It's still pretty wet out. In the hour it took me to go get brekky, and pick up my new chain and sprockets etc. I got rained on 4 times:rolleyes:...lol.

If you're gonna be home later, I might have to pop down and grab your chain breaker. Can't wait for that awesome feel of new chain and sprockets:rockon:

Pi$$ing off into the rain now for a spin.....see you at my joint about 7pm!

Well, Jess and myself suited up in full winter riding gear, braved the elements yesterday, and knocked out about 270km's in a decent amount of rain, very strong wind, and some pretty crazy cold weather for the end of October!!! My air intake temp get down to 9c at one point...

Was actually a fairly decent ride, ridden at a srict "touring" pace, with no high speed heroics in sight.

As per usual, my Clover jacket was amazing, arrived home dry and warm, and not once did i feel anything but toasty warm...

Hands were a different matter...my extremely waterproof RST Pro winter gloves are not the warmest glove around, so yesterday it ended up being disposable kitchen gloves, thermal inner gloves, and the RST's....it worked.

Managed to get slammed in the front of the helmet by a fairly decent sized magpie...i even pulled over afterwards to see whether the helmet was damaged...but apart from a bit of Magpie blood, all was good, visor down, ride off! i didnt even really feel it...freaked me out a bit though!

Anyway's, it gave Jess a chance to deal with crap weather as a pillion, and she held up fine in her RJay's boots, and leather pants, and AGV textile jacket, neck sock, and dri rider gloves..

No complaints either, Jess got off the bike a little saddle sore, but otherwise happy with the days outing...

Had a couple of really nasty cross winds, and a couple of rather sudden head winds, coming round cliff sided corners...made for a bit of interesting correcting action on my behalf...

But i like riding on wet roads, dunno why, but i like the challenge i think???

Sam bought herself a Sportscity 250 IE 08' (Learner legal) Aprilia which was 1 year old for 6k even, with about 1300km's on the clock and its amazing.
It can easily keep up with the FZ6 unless your REALLY fanging it, and it handles highway speeds easily (even with a pillion).
Its deceptively fast, I can be sitting about 80km/h and think I'm doing 50 and then realise I could be in serious trouble if the boys in blue see me.
Its nice to ride, well balanced, isn't butt ugly like a lot of the learner legal scooters, has plenty of storage, pretty nice build quality (to be expected from Aprilia tho).
I'd also think it would hold its value reasonably well, but even as a simple run around it would be tempting not to give it up if you want to save fuel even compared to the FZ6.
I wouldn't touch a scooter before I rode it home from the dealer for her, but have to admit its a pretty sweet machine, even for an auto :p
The only real downside is because its a scooter its more suspectible to wind blasts from the side, but I would imagine thats pretty common for all scooters, especially with a topbox (which was included when she got it).
