Hi from Chicagoland!

Hi all - so yesterday I was at the Cycleworld International show, checking out a variety of motorcycles, and fell in love upon discovering the FZ6.

A little background, I'm a cruiser rider at heart, but have always been interested in sport-touring motorcycles. I'm a proud owner of a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic for the last 4 years, and have always wanted to add to the family. Sitting on the FZ6, it felt right for me - a perfect mix of comfort, styling, and sex appeal!

I eagerly started to do online research last night, when I stumbled upon these forums. Am looking forward to getting to know folks here, and hopefully learning a ton!

At this point, I haven't made any solid decisions. Part of me is leaning towards a (slightly) used 2007, to take advantage of the various revisions that I'm seeing that occurred between 2006-2007. But on the other hand, in researching various accessories, I see that most seem to only be listed as being compatible with 2004-2006 - like lower fairings. So one of my first big questions is, are accessories marked for 2004-2006 compatibility, also compatible with 2007-2008 models?

I think a used 2007 is an excellent choice.

For the most part, yes. For example, a windscreen (faired) wouldn't be but a seat cowel or slip on exhaust would be. You'll have to check on an item by item basis but much of bike remained exactly the same.

Welcome! Chicago is a great city! My sister lives there and I love to visit, however I have NO idea how the hell you survive winter.

For what it is worth, get an 07 and up. No offense to the 04 to 06 guys, the 07 have a few upgrades that are nice, swing arm, FI mapping, brakes (the brakes are killer), I like the fairing better.

As far a goodies there is a pretty good selection, an R6 has way more stuff to choose from however.

All in all, a great all around bike.
