Fires are crazy!!

Here is what I heard this morning, for those who know ACH:

I got a text message from Carlos last night at 11:30 saying that Newcombs had caught fire.
I called this morning and he said that Victor was the last man standing and that he called to say he was evacuated as the flames over-took the building. He said they tried to save Chilao but lost that battle in addition to Fish Camp, Pacifico, the Cal Trans yard, and pretty much everything else on the mountain.

I can't believe it!!!

Here is the Newcomb's restaurant, which has been the Mecca for riders for years and years!!!

This fire thing is messing with our A.C. ride some of the forum people have planned on Sept. 12th.

Sorry to hear about Newcombs. Never got a change to visit it.

yea, this is bad. If they need a helping hand rebuilding, I'll lift wood! I liked that place and the food was good to boot! a sad day in history for LA motorcyclists.

In case you haven't seen this link, this is being updated with the extent of the Station Fire. It isn't completely accurate, as it was incorrectly showing the fire less than two miles from the 14 Freeway yesterday afternoon, but it is a good reference.

Oh MAN.

That is terrible. I was wondering this morning if Newcomb's would be safe from the blaze, but I think I knew this would happen. Terrible. Newcomb's is a legend and so many great memories have been made there. Just. Terrible.

I ride here all geared up and can't even imagine what firefighters have to deal with. It's been seemingly hotter than usual....

Man, that just brought a tear to my eye, Newcombs was the place to meet and I hope that they can rebuild it.

Mt Wilson (Observatory and Communication center) is apparently still "alive"... but for how long...

We were up there recently too!

I also hate to play devil's advocate, but I do all the time, but if the place hasn't burned since record keeping started over 200 years ago, I think it's about time the area burned...
