The "Off Topic" thread...

I agree.

Satellite broadband, wireless connection, tinroof, Chittering Valley, cloudy days - all interfere :shakehead:

The only way i could get a decent reception at my new house was to buy a wireless router, and hang it out my office window! true story! But there was a hidden bonus with this....no more fighting over the wireless dongle thing! All our PC'S are now networked.

Bet you can't wait for the NBN.. until they set up the filter!

As the many critics have said, the filter will never stop the bad people from getting at what they want, but will probably greatly restrict normal peoples choices of content.
Of course privacy and freedom tend to take a back seat when anyone starts a fear campaign these days, its just a shame no one seems to be able to actually support an idea on its merits instead of resorting to extremes and worse case scenarios that are suddenly every day occurances threatening all Australians.

Pretty much reflected in the current election, we are basically watching two shadow governments trying to run their campaigns, where neither actually want to promise anything but would rather try and win by saying they'll spend less than the other party in a more effective way.

I'm suprised we aren't seeing things like "We'll cut spending on roads, because at the rate of inflation Aussies won't be able to afford a car let alone petrol by the next election!"

On another unrelated topic, apparently in my area the Council is trying to ban units from providing parking spots for the people who live there.
Apparently its unenvironmental.
Ironic because the mayor in my area has one of those hybrid cars that caused more pollution in being made than a normal car makes in 20 years and its production, BUT her family owns one of those huge gas guzzling 4wd's.

I really wish we had a system where pollies who made suggestions but didn't live by them were put on a boat and sent overseas, all we have to do is threaten them with death and UN law states they can't be sent back.

Yes! He is not a happy camper.....but his Mum wont even let him get on the back of my bike....little does show know though!:D:D:D

He will be fine, we will both miss each other like hell, as we are best mates, but, secretly, i am looking forward to the break from the kids...it gets pretty hectic round here at times!

What about you Humpy? you have offspring!

As if i didnt hate the QLD Govt enough they go & make comercials like this & upset me :( Queensland Government Motorcycle Safety - Out here TV commercial

Is it just me, or are they saying that a Car is going to do something stupid, so it's the bike riders responsibility to make sure they avoid it???

How about, something more like, "hey car drivers, Bike riders use the road too, watch out for them", cause if you cause them to crash, there is a greater chance they will be hurt, or die!!!"

That ad sucks the big one! :(

WTF is happening, Aussie members?

A non-Aussie just got poster of the day :spank: :shakehead:

Let's fix this now

Most active user for the last day Kamloops (10)

Most active user ever is Wolfman (9270)

How about an ad where a dipstick driver gets dragged out of their car and beaten to death with a helmet, followed by a big caption......

"Watch Out For Motorbikes. Some Of Them Are Getting Fed Up With Dodging You!"

Hey, I checked out that ad again, and I'm looking at the oncoming lanes, and there was nothing coming. He should've gassed it past over the double lines and taken the guys mirror out with a boot on the way through.

Ad should say, "Don't be afraid to cross the double trying to avoid attempted murder by someone too lazy to turn their head and look."

And I got the number plate (924H80), so if he took off he's scrooged...lol.:Flip::BLAA:

Great detective work Constable Plod :BLAA: But yes your right , there is always the option of a mirror boot not that I would do or have ever done that  :liar:

What they should do is treat the issue the same as they do for everything else.

Have an ad where some stupid cager kills a motorcyclist, followed by 'would you rather check your blind spot or look over your shoulder in jail'.
Then show a big fellow covered in tats behind someone in prison gear, maybe have the person in prison gear (from the earlier part where he killed the motorcyclist) holding a bar of soap or a bar of soap slipping from their hands. This could be set in the shower area too.

The government and public approach to motorcycles seems to be split between trying to kill us off faster so they no longer have to worry, and half arsed measures that put the blame on the motorcyclist no matter the situation.

Lol! The only thing wrong with this is, some people might like the prospect of "Bubba" getting a hold of them! And we dont need to give these people any idea's on how to get an appointment with "Bubba"!!!

So we all had "a life" for a day...sheesh! I bet it was quiet in here.... :D

BTW if you think you have grounds you can put in an official complaint about the advertisement. Because its government you have less chance of getting it taken off, but you never know.

A mate at work today told me he's getting himself a bike. Has never had a sportbike before, has ridden a Harley (poor fella...lmao).
He's swapping one of his cars for a GSXR 600, next breath he tells me he's gotta go get a license!!! I mentioned he'll need to get himself a LAMS approved bike for the first 12 or 24 months, he laughed and said "What for??" Guess I won't have this particular mate for long.. Huh??
