I recently brought the bike in for my TPS recall... been putting it off for too long. They also changed the drive sprocket. I wasn't aware of a sprocket recall for the '05 fz6. Has anyone else heard of this one?

I have an 05 and had the TPS recall done as well. I thought the only other recall was for the Sprocket nut & washer, not the sprocket itself? IIRC

luck nut/washer not the actual sprocket. 2004 and 2005...I don't THINK it affected the 2006+

After having my TPS and nut/washer changed out, I looked my bike over before leaving the stealership. The chain was extremely tight and they had blown a fuse (no headlights).

I recently got on 05, is there anyway I can take part in the recall?

Call the dealer service department and give them the VIN from the bike. They will run the number and tell you if it is involved in the recall.

Yes. Since it is a Yamaha Factory issued recall, ANYONE who has a bike that is affected by the recall can get the work done by a Yamaha dealer at no cost. They can cross reference your bike's VIN number to see:

a. if it falls into the recall range of VIN numbers
b. if it has or has not received the warranty work.

Might also want to make sure that your TPS has been replaced.

What is the reason behind the recall???

the front sprocket nuts were probably spinning off and they decided to replace the washers rather than keep replacing engine parts.
