The second photo is my favorite place to stop along Storm King Mountain Road (218). When you come up for your ride on the 12/13th, I would recommend going reverse what your map shows to experience the better views. Go over Storm King Mountain VIA north on 9w and you will get a great view of the Military Academy (you can't pull off to the scenic view when you are coming south on 9w) and then after going through Newburgh, come south on 218. Also if people haven't ever been, throw in the extra 10 miles/20 minutes and visit the Orange County Chopper shop that is by Stewart airport.
I *may* be able to join you that weekend.
