That is a Department of Defense sticker to allow access to a military base. The person who allied the sticker should have removed it prior to selling the vehicle.

Yeah he told me about it and I ripped it off today...

Thanks John for all the help today... and for the lists!

Some progress today:

removed the chain for deep cleaning and replacement of the master link

everything we found was pretty much expected considering the poor maintenance of the bike... nothing major though, which was a relief.

I think you go a bargain David. Just give is a good cleaning, tune up and you're good to go. What a gem.

I agree... I got really lucky on that one!

Today I have to order all the parts I need... I'll copy my list on here in a little bit...

Not sure if I should pull the trigger on track plastics right away or not...

Never seen an airfilter that bad...that has to be the original. Must be all the smog making it so black :D

You really got a great bike there....you're gonna love it.

OMG Dave, it's naked, put some clothes on her, she'll freeze... Didn't CA get a dumping of snow toady??? :rof:

Looks like you got one-in-a-million, great deal. Thankfully only minor stuff wrong with it, well done mate.

Wish I could get a track-bike, but my missus doesn't like me having the FZ, so I'm not gunna push for another bike

:)

Stumbles, my wife doesn't like my bikes either, but I told her a track bike was great since it would allow me to have fun in a safe environment, while improving my skills and getting my aggression out... in other words it's the safe thing to do... and she bought it :D

Here is the list of things to buy so far:
- DOT #4 brake fluid
- Motor oil
- K&N Oil filter (with safety wire hook)
- Oil drain plug gasket
- All coolant hoses & drain gaskets
- Fuel line
- Front master cylinder rebuild kit
- Caliper seal kit
- Brake pads
- Brake lines + copper gaskets
- Water wetter concentrate + distilled water
- Fork Oil
- Epoxy glue (to repair the rear cowling brass insert)
- Spark Plugs
- Radiator cap
- Chain lub (Dupont)
- K&N Air filter
- Frame Sliders
- Track Plastics
- R-K 525 chain master link
- Front tire stand (T-Rex?)

And the things to do/inspect/repair:
- drive chain + both sprockets: inspect/clean/adjust: done
- check battery: done
- drain fuel from tank (very old) and replace
- oil + filter change
- replace all coolant hoses (including overflow and throttle body)
- replace fuel line
- flush cooling system & refill with water wetter + new rad cap.
- change fork oil
- check steering head bearings and re-pack grease
- check/replace air filter
- fix handlebar end (right side is loose)
- replace spark plugs
- re-build front brake
- check valves and adjust
- find and fix the electrical turn signal issue
- check/adjust engine idle speed
- check/adjust brake & throttle cables
- check/torque main bolts
- lub control levers + brake pedal, gear shift and side stand pivots

It seems she has bought a lot of your lame excuses, lol. Don't show her this thread, hee hee. She's a keeper.

As for front tire stand, check ebay. I got one and it is fantastic. $42.5 shipped.

learning a lot and getting to work on a track bike with a friend is probably worth the $2K alone....can't wait to pass your a$$ on my FZ :D Just kidding....this thread is just making me excited to get out on the track again.

And I tell my wife the same thing by the way...and it's true if you ask me....seriously.

Thanks, but I need one that'll lift using the steering stem, like this one: Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories

DefyInertia: I agree that's it is true... but that doesn't usually matter with her :) Come race with us!!

OK so here is what I have so far... but before I place the order, I need help on a couple items:

View attachment 12997

Item 59100-29820 is the brake pads... I need to buy a QTY of 1 only right? (2pads, one for each caliper)?

Item 59100-29830 is the set of seals for the caliper, and per the micro-fiche, I am getting a QTY of 4... 1 for each piston, is that correct? (freaking $90 for seals................)

I am not sure what I need for the front master cylinder re-build: Ronayers.com Fiche Desktop Motorcycle Suzuki 2005 GSX-R600 FRONT MASTER CYLINDER
Any help appreciated :)

Updated list after I buy all that (reminder for myself):
- DOT #4 brake fluid
- Motor oil
- Oil drain plug gasket => discontinued on Ron Ayers
- Front master cylinder rebuild kit
- Brake lines + copper gaskets
- Water wetter concentrate + distilled water
- Fork Oil
- Epoxy glue (to repair the rear cowling brass insert)
- Spark Plugs
- Chain lub (Dupont)
- Track Plastics
- R-K 525 chain master link
- Front tire stand (T-Rex? Pit Bull?)

Check for the different adapters he has pictured and shoot him a question. I hope you get it since I've seen other brands like PitBull too but this stand is cheaper on sale and almost same quality too.
