Sold my FZ6 a couple years ago, never did like the naked look and couldn't find lowers cheap enough, bought a naked FZ1, sold it, bought a mod-heavy FZ1 with lowers, loved it, too fast for me, I can't control my wrist at times.

Current.....looking at a 2009 FZ6R real serious. Less thas 3,000 miles, no mods, it's virgin....WHAT's it worth ???????

How do the 2009's compare performance to the 2007 FZ6 that I had?

Thanks !!!

That's a lot of bikes to buy because you couldn't find lowers that were cheap enough.

The FZ6R is a great bike and worth what you are willing to pay for it.

No idea what it's worth, but if I was looking I'd ask on our FZ6R sister forum.

Performance.. the R is ~50 pounds heavier and has about 20 fewer ponies. How do you think it compares?

The FZ6R has a 160 wide rear in comparison to the FZ6's 180. I believe it also has a "dubbed down" motor with around 76 hp.

The bike is faired and has a nice look, but I would say overall it is not quite the machine that the older FZ6 is.

The new R version has less HP and performance at the top end, but better low and mid range torque. The magazine reviewers seem to like it, but I would rather the older FZ6. Here are some stats from Motorcycle Consumer News reviews on the 2004 and the 2009 R models (rounded).

04 FZ6 09FZ6R
Wet Weight 460 477
Horsepower max 86 65
Torque 42 39
0-60 MPH in seconds 3.44 4.15
0-100 MPH seconds 8.05 12.07
1/4 mile 11.32 @ 118 mph 12.49@ 105 mph

The R does have a smaller rear tire as stated above. To get the benefits of the old FZ6, they are at the higher RPM ranges and that means more downshifting. The new R should be great for around town since there is more torque at the lower and mid RPMs. It's just a matter of preference. I think they are both great bikes.
