the seat is difficult to clean as its full of those tiny holes so i use a stiff brush to get in the nooks and crannys, it makes it look like new. i dont tend to use polish on the seat.

any decent dish washing soap is fine

Be careful with this, many of these liquids contain salt.

I heard that you shouldn´t wax the tank so you don´t make it slippery while you´re riding, does thta make any sense at all?

Few posts have mentioned about salt in dish washing soap, so that´s a no go... car shampoo seems to be the sanest idea :thumbup:

Didn´t see any thoughts for the slippery tank issue, anyone wanna risk an answer? :don'tknow:

I go to a new wash. Let the bike sit five minutes. Put in 8 quarters, hit pre-soak and spray everything but the seat, cowl, windscreen. Hit high-pressure soap. Wash. Hit spot-free rinse and rinse everything. Drive home and there is not 1 hard water spot anywhere! Worth $2 I guess. But I've gotten lazy with age.

high pressure is not good for the bike, much better to hand wash your fz6.

I have been using the Motul Wash & Wax in a can and I am quite impressed with the results.

I spray everything from the tank to the engine block, exhaust headers, brake calipers the lot and it lifts all the bugs, road grime, chain lube etc and leaves it gleaming with a wax coat that keeps it looking clean for quite a while without using one drop of water.

OK, I took my doubt about waxing the tank to an ex Yamaha Test Driver and that was his response:

You can wax your tank, however you should either find tank protection for the sides, were your legs hold on to, or not wax the sides at all. It indeed gets slippery whick could cause you to lose grip during brakings.

I hose the bike off & either hit it with Turtle wax car wash or I sometimes use Sellys waterless wash spray.
I also use tea tree oil to clean wheels & to remove road grime & stubborn bug splatter.
