Usually a jacket, jeans, helmet and gloves is all thats required...although boots and suits is definitely a plus

7 thats a good price plus i dont think ive ever been able to make that many passed because the tracks i tend to go to are always crowded but yeah the tracks ive been to just require helmet and jacket unless your bike can break under 10.50 or a trap speed of 145 then they require a full suit

I imagine the -1 up front is what really helps getin times that low

Did 10 runs at the dragstrip tonight.

Best time:

R/T: .061
60': 2.03
1/8: 7.82
1/4: 12.125 @ 111.7 MPH

Rider weight: 230 with gear

This is with a 17T front sprocket and pretty much stock everything else. I'm sure with a 15T sprocket low 11's would be easy.

Whats up FZ6 riders.

Ive been away for a while cause Ive sold the fizzer and gotten myself a gsxr 750 as Ive been getting into more and more track days. Anyways found the old timeslips today and thought Id compile the info.

Stock rear shock set at 3-5
Bridgestone bt-016's
Front tire pressure set at 40psi cold
Rear Tire pressure set at 22psi cold
Launch 7000rpms
Shift 12500

Top 60ft times: 1)1.902
2)1.904
3)1.915

1/8 E.T 1)[email protected]
2)[email protected]
3)[email protected]

1/4 E.T. 1)11.510
2)11.596
3)11.620

Top trap speeds 1/4 mile
1)121.79mph
2)118.32mph
3)118.31mph

And the top 1/8 e.t 7.403 @ 98.10mph

So this bike will do 0-100mph in 7.5 seconds pretty fakkking quick ;)

Anywho am looking foward at running some low 10s with that 750!

So long fellas

Took my bike to the dragstrip again last night. It was 35 degrees out and I rode 110 miles each way to get there, so I was wearing a bunch of extra layers of cothing under my normal full gear.

Regardless, best time of the night was 11.82 @ 115 MPH. I have the timeslips at home and I will post the full stats later.

My 60' time was not that great, right around 2 seconds. if I could improve on that 11.7 should be easy. I will have to try again in the Summer wearing less layers/lighter gear.

Keep in mind this is with a 17T front sprocket. Soundgarden's times would be untouchable without going back to stock or -1.

I am really glad this was tested with a -1 and a +1 on the gears all be it by different bikes at different locations.

This was something on my mind, i have also gone to +1 so a 17t front and yes i have lost some off the line pull but holy cow it pulls harder and longer right in the power band in all gears, so i was curious if the faster acceleration vs more mid range pull, seems that the -1 tooth has the advantage

Yeah, very hard to compare especially being different bikes, different riders, different locations, different mods (soundgarden has slipons), etc. It has been my experience that with the 17T front sprocket off the line grunt is reduced but overall acceleration in the real world is unchanged. I believe my numbers back that up.

Here is the slip from my fastest run. With a better R/T and launch I see 11.7 being easily attainable.

Good stuff,
About that 60ft, what do you launch at? Did you lower your rear tire pressure? What is the setting on your rear shock and how much do you weight?

Funny story about that. I weigh ~25 pounds less than I did when I posted my first round of timeslips. I'm now 177 plus gear, so right around 200 with gear. I had my tire pressure set to the normal 36/39 F/R. Rear shock preload was at 3. I was having a hard time launching as hard as I wanted to. I probably ended up launching around 6-7K RPM's. Last time I was at the strip, my 60' time was faster EVEN weighing 25 pounds more, so I KNOW I can do better and I KNOW a 11.7 is possible with my current setup.

Cool congrats about your weight loss, best way to improve your times ;) That tire pressure in the rear is way to high, lower it to about 24psi cold youll get more grip off the line but keep the front pressure up and youll get 1-2mph more in the trap. Cheers and good racing going to the NYST next month cant wait

Well I figured this thread is worth a revive. I headed out to Rock Falls for a fun run today. Weather was beautiful up here in WI. It was sunny and about 75 degrees, pretty low humidity.
The bike: 2009 fz6, K&N air filter, Akrapovic slip-ons, no other tuning, -1t front sprocket, a set of half worn out pilot road 3's, a 20,000 mile old chain that I forgot to oil before leaving home, complete with centerstand still attached. No adjustment to tire air pressure. Just a run it as you rode it there kind of day.
My dad and his friends brought their cars. So we had a C5 corvette, new ZL1 Camaro, '07 Mustang GT, 2012 Cobra GT 500, '69 Camaro with a 502 big block. I showed up on the fizz, one friend on a Buell 1125R and another on an '09 r6.

With all those toys around, it was bound to be a good day!!

It was my first time out to strip and i had some learning to do, Reaction times were terrible, but I feel like I did a pretty good job launching the bike. I red lighted my first run.. before Just as stage lights came on.. oops! Then I also red lighted my last run of the day.. which is when I lost out of the first round of the bracket races. :(

I also learned that I could out-launch my buddy on the Buell 1125R. Infact I usually got him all the way out to the 1/8 mile mark. I think that comes down to the rider though.

My best ended up like this:
R/T: .267
60' 2.027
330 5.088
1/8 7.673 @94.36
1/4 11.944 @112.37

Other 1/4 times were:
12.051 @113.14
12.129 @111.32
12.221 @109.94

Other times:
1125R best run was 11.348 @ 128.03
R6 best was 11.300
Friend in the Shelby Mustang was down to 11.7s and he won the bracket race. ZL1 was close to the same times.
Dad in his C5 Corvette ran 13.48

Also (not with my group) was an early like 2009 or 2010 BMW S1000RR, pretty much stock. had the front forks strapped down is about all.
He ran something like 9.74 @ 149something mph.. Talk about FAST!!
