i have the speedo, just have to wait till i get better and then i can finish all the new things that i have.One thing i am looking foward to see is the RED chain on the bike. After i put the PC111 in I was looking at the QUICK SHIFTER. Anybody have info on that?

I changed the rear sprocket from the stock silver 46 tooth, to the black 48 tooth, that was the easy one. I have no clue on the front sprocket and i went down 1 to a 15 tooth.

I love the look of that chain!

I have been dying to change out my sprocket since I first rode my FZ6.

How much did this cost ?

I would love to see the process and hear from you when you get it done.

opds.... you still planning on riding to the NC rally the end of next month.

what is that gearing going to be like cruising up there??

I ask cuz the 500 + miles at 70 or so will be around 6K rpm with stock gearing
I think you have about 700+ miles.

Probably want to order a speedo healer at the same time if you are doing this mod, unless you like to do a ton of math while riding...

Mate as you can gather, I don't spell to good so trying to work out math whilst riding will be a bit likr this:

14 tooth sprocket / Nelly comming up to fixed camera = £60.00 fine. Speedo healer from me defo.

I see you went with the 520 X-Ring. Great choice... Keep some weight over that front end until you get used to it because it will get light. I had the 15/46 on mine for a while and I loved it but the super slabs didn't. The riding I do here in Kentucky would be well suited to the 15/48 although I am going with the 525 X-ring simply because I want the stock R6 set up with the insulator. Your drive will be noisier than stock but you'll get used to it.... Let us know how you like it....

Will I need to change my drive chain to to drop the front by one tooth. I am a little confused? Do I need to change both sprockets? You mentioned R6 gearing. If the power comes in earlier how come the R6 still has the legs on top end.
After our ride out this weekend I really got to thinking that I would really love to have some of that peak power (torque) availible at lower revs. The reality is I cruise at around 80 - 90 MPH. So I am figureing I would not miss to much of the peak torque?
Thia is all a bit tecnical for my brain.

Sproket Modification?

So I have an 2006 Red FZ6 that i bought in March of 2007 and after a season have decided I wanna get a little more power out of it. At least low end power because i don't wanna spend the money for an exhaust or power commander. I already ordered a 49 tooth rear sproket to replace the stock 46. Do you guys think I Should also drop a tooth in the front as well? I would like to be able to get the wheel up if I want to without clutching the **** out of it, and be able to take my friends with Gsxr and R6's, well at least off the line.......Let me know.

Also If i do this am I still going to be able to comfortably tour around at 85 or 90 on back roads or is it going to seem like the engine is running too high even in 6th gear?

You need a new chain for that 49?

I dropped 1 up front for $25 and was able to keep the stock chain.

Your speedo is going to be all jacked up and yeah, you'll notice a difference at 85 or 90, whether or not it's acceptable will be your call.

I don't know if I need A new chain or not I guess I hope someone could tell me that too. And if I would, would my current chain work if i also dropped one in the front? hmmmm lots of questions....sorry guys

never be sorry for asking questions, but you will most likely need a new chain since the new rear sprocket will have such a larger circumference.

probobly not.... I have seen the whole shooting match for under $140~ish.
I think it was called the sum of all mods or something like that.

just try going -1 in the front. if you do a -1/+2 might as well go with the 520conv. like defy said -1 is only $20-30. -1/+2 with the stock chain (if it fits) will be $60... Try the -1, feel it out, and if you want more then go for the -1/+2, as for it fitting on the stock chain, I dont think so... -1/+1 is doable, but anything more in the back I have no idea.

How buzzy is it at 80 - 90 mph Defy? Have you run with a sat nav to see how far out the new speedo readings are?

general rule is that down 1 int he front is about equal to up 2 in the rear..

Well luckily my buddy who was ordering the part for me slacked off and the order didn't go through yet. So I am gonna try just dropping the one in the front and seeing what happens. I guess i can always change the back sprocket later.

Is there anything else besides sprockets that I can do to give myself a little more power

Front Sprocket help

Im having to replace my sprockets. I removed the back wheel and now im trying to take the front sprocket off. I put the bike in gear and when i try and remove the bolt, the sprocket just wants to spin. am i doing something wrong. Is there a trick to this?

Impact gun.... If you dont have one................ The engine compression it not high enough to allow you to loosen the nut... Try it in Neutral with the chain on and use the rear tire to stop the sprocket from spinning... Make sure you straighen the locking tabs on the sprocket nut also

i just have changed it yesterday,,it was fairly easy , definitely need to lock the rear wheel to stop the sprocket from spinning...i have installed a AFAM 15tooth sprocket,,,noticed a pretty good change in acceleration ,especially on 2nd gear..there is a little bit of extra whining going on right now,,i made sure to line the rear tire up nicely,,,i dont know maybe it will dissappear in time,,,nothing major anyways....

i will ride it with my gps to see what kind of difference it made to the actual speed vs indicated...

Put it in neutral. If it rotates in gear that may damage the tranny. Trick is to loosen the rear axle and chain adjusters. Push the wheel forward. Remove the sprocket nut.
