Alien Cafe Racer Headlight! fitted! now with lotsa pics!

There are so many options it makes your head spin!
I'm drawn to this Pyramid Mantis,though I might be a bit biased,being an ex Duke2 owner

(That was a great little bike)

Priced at £200,I don't spose it's too bad and it's E marked,making it legal over here.But to get one,I'd have to consider selling my standard unit first.

As stated previously, i am only ditching the OEM headlight, cause it wont let me use cip-ons!

But the new one i am getting is E-marked, and has the same ouput as OEM headlight (50w/55w), and i think it will fit in perfectly on my bike, once it is painted, and installed at the right angle, etc...

I think it will look spot on,especially in black as Jman says.
Also it helps that the FZ has a wide tank,so it won't overpower the front of the bike.

Yep, you have hit the nail on the head! The key to this looking good on the FZ6, or any bike for that matter, is all about scale!

It looks good on the z750/z1000 posted above, because the Z has a wide side profile, with those huge ar$e radiator panels, sticking out wide across the front of the tank...

The FZ6 should be exactly the same, especially when i add the TCP radiator panerls, which will add even more width to the bike...

The FZ6 also has quite a chunky front mudgaurd, so this should help as well, as will the "slimmking" effect of everything being black!

I was quite worried for a bit, as the only bike's i had seen this headlight on previously to seeing the Z, were all smaller bikes, 250cc,with skinny tanks, skinny forks, and skinny front wheels, and a smaller overall size.

i dun like the projectors 1 on top of another, but the how the shape of the headlight cowling 'wraps' the bike is nice, nicer than what i used to have.

Yep, it took a while for me to "like" this light, but it is designed by the same bunch that did my bellypan, so the lines are similar, as is the finish...hopefully...

Re the cowling wrapping the bike...i was looking for something that i could hide all the "spaghetti" (wiring, etc) at the front of the bike, as well as hiding any "fugly" brackets, etc...

dont think i will fancy 1 'eye' headlight or 1 on top of the other.. that's how i ended up with fz6s2. haha. anyway, to each their own, looks are subjective.

Woohoo! The tracking status for my headlight just changed for the first time in a month....exactly a month...

Was dispatched to Post Office, and received on the 28th of April....Today a note was added, that said the package was now in transit!!!

Apparently it is only 7-12 days once the package has left Spain...

Not getting my hopes up too much though...

Am replacing my OEM FZ6N headlight with this unit, so i can mount clip-on handlebars for a bit of a modern take on the Cafe Racer theme.

I think i will modify the headlight unit to fit my existing mini LED indicators on each side, which should not be hard.

wow I love that fairing. the two stacked individual headlights is definitely a great look. Can't wait to see it on the bike

OK, the light has arrived! Woohoo! After all my misgiving's, and confusion re the Spanish postal service...my light turned up exactly one month after it was sent! It seems the tracking sites were misleading me as to where the package was!

Anyway, it's here, and it is now on my bike...

This is only a "First Fit", and at this point, i have not had it painted, i have not installed my clip-on handlebars, and i am yet to remove the old headlight mounting bracket! So it will look VERY DIFFERENT once all the other stuff is done...

but for now, i thought i would fit it up, and see that it fits...

Am reasonably happy with the look at the moment, but it does need modification to fit how i want it too...just aint had time yet, as i have been moving house...It needs to be angled back a bit more than it is now, but that will require a small modification of the mounting brackets, which i will do this weekend, when i fit the Clip-on handlebars...

Wiring the thing up, was a little interesting, but in the end i got there....the H3 Projector beam headlights are fantastic!!! Much brighter, and broader coverage than the OEM headlight's! Getting the lights to point in the right direction was easy, via 4 adjuster screws on each headlight.

The overall quality of the unit is great, great finish, easy fitting, decent mounting brackets, Headlight assembly, very sturdy...definitely worth what i paid for it in that respect.

Oh man, at night that thing is going to look VICIOUS...please tell me you have HIDs installed in there.

The curves integrate well with the bike, its unique without looking wacky, and it just screams sex appeal.

God damn that is a great looking headlight on a great looking bike. The thing that really makes my jaw drop is the bike overall just looks sooooo cleeeeeeeean and shiney with so many little cool bits.

It will make a worthy BOTM for June through December 2010.

Still Naked, just a little bit more covered up...can still see that motor!

Will throw up some better pictures, and some side on shots,once i get the Clip-on's fitted, and have modified the mounting points for the headlight, to the position i reallywant it in, this weekend.

Hmmmm I dunno Wolfman, the windscreen throws me. The light makes it look more like a euro bike though, defiantly not a FZ.

Will keep looking at the pictures and let you know

Yeah maybe I need to get used to it more or see it from different angles, but it looks oversized on that bike imo. It does make the FZ look like it's from the 70's though, so if retro is the look you were after you got it!

I wonder why they call this a cafe racer headlight?
