'08 Mods complete!

After a mere 75 miles on the bike, it all came apart today. I did the FE Kit, dual headlight mod, tank camera mount and the first oil change after some excellent loading of the rings for these first 75 miles. Here's the lights:

Low beams Low filament

I didn't do the clean mod and missed out on the really nice biker dude wire loom which was totally my own fault. But, I did do the mod up to the harness at the left handlebar. Works perfectly with either/or filament but never both lit. The wire was well hidden and taped in place with a barrel connector in the event the entire fairing had to be removed. You can't tell it was put in place.

I can't tell you the feeling I had taking apart a brand new bike. This was fun!! Here's some shots during the FE kit install... Since Reiobard did such a great cronological job, I'm just posting some highlights.

Soon to come is the Puig smoke windshield and as promised, a bunch of photo angles of both side by side, as well as both mounted with something to use as an index like a yard stick.

Oh, and before anyone says it, the frame sliders are backordered and will be here in May so I'm being super careful until then!

Thanks!! I really like the stealth mode of the bike though. Just not a fan of making more noise. If you run this bike at the higher RPMs, its quite loud anyway. I wish I could get the looks without the sound or breaking the wallet. I have a plan in place for the stock covers to improve the looks... more to come!

I also have the Racetech springs to install yet. :thumbup:

nice job,,,this is the only reason why i hate this forum because of you guys over the winter i have did bunch of mods and spent lots of money for the bike i havent even started riding on a daily basis...
simple calculation :
Motovation Frame Sliders $35 (used)
FAZR6 FE Kit $25 (used)
K&N Air Filter $60
Can of Flat Black Paint $10
Aftermarket Signals x4 $30
Power Commander $200 (used)
Puig Dark Smoke Racing $110 (replacement fee+shipping inc)
Eurolite Bulbs $25
Did the headlight mod $Free (yay)
Joe Rocket Manta Tank Bag $20 (used)
Aftermarket signal flasher relay ($10) (to stop fast blinking,works normal now)

Total : $525
could have been much more if i bought everything new...i saved $150 only on pc3....

Also stopped by the shop BTW and saw some of those blue Puig screens and they are pretty dark, but transparent. (At least for the R1 and R6, the FZ one was not in stock)

I got the 3 mile mod in after all the work and it started raining...

I've come up with several ideas for the looks of the exhaust. I think I want to nab someone's stock exhaust cover though since I don't want to mess up my only one.

How do you guys think the looks would be if I was to powder coat the radiator covers and rear sets in Cobalt Blue?

Isn't it amazing what the bike does at the high RPMs? Get it up there in 2nd or 3rd and feel the front end lift all by itself!! :thumbup:

Still mate, don't take the risk. You never know, happens to the most seasoned. Get the ones from ebay, they are pretty good. I got the extended ones.

Since I got a used one, I opened it up the 2nd day to 13K rpm, yippee!! Now, I am mostly in the 9K+ rpm range.

The new Puig racing screen came in Monday but I wan't at work to receive it. Tuesday during lunch, I ran down to the bike with the screen and a screwdriver and installed it. Last night's ride home was awesome! This screen is a WORLD of difference and totally changes the ride on the FZ6. I took it on I95 and got it up to 85 mph (basically the flow of traffic here) and I had no trouble with excessive noise, head buffeting or visibility through the smoke screen.

I did promise comparision pics and will take those this weekend and post them. After owning an '05 model, swapping windshields on the '08 is a DREAM!

Doesn't it? I can't believe what a difference (and a joy) the ride & comfort is over the stock screen. It's not much bigger, looks better and no need for an "out of place" touring screen...

Very true! Perhaps the touring screen is beneficial to the very tall riders maybe over 6'2" ? At 5'10", this racing screen deflects nearly all the wind period. I did install the laminar lip they included as well. Some have not but it does make a difference. For the money, this is by far the most functional mod I've done to date and it looks SWEEEEEEEET!
