I had the same issue and ended up buying Dainese pants to go with the jacket. The union belt zips to your jacket and you can connect it to your pants with a belt for $50.
To answer your original question... no, the ticket is still valid. As long as your signals light up take it to your local police department and they should be able to sign it off for you. Just pay the $10 fee and be done with it.
