That headlight is (mostly) home made;) The fairing is original Yamaha, allthough I've painted it.

So, I had an unpleasant meeting with a cager last autumn and had my old tank dented and a whole lot of other things screwed up. Mostly cosmetic, and I did try to figure out the tank (the orange one) by bashing it in and turning the original handlebars up side down. Well... It was extremely...
I voted sometimes. Especially when I'm cruising on the highway, with my left arm resting on the fuel tank. Light pressure on the shifter, little blip with the throttle, and the tranny shifts up smoothly. Never down, though.
That's awful.. Winter is a depressing season, as it makes everything a bit more complicated. More clothing on the kids in allready stressful mornings, cold car, can't use bus lane to work, stuck in traffic, etc. And not to forget: Shuffling snow in the driveway in blizzard condtions.
Oh.. I'm...
Open it, check the connectors and spray it with WD40. In order to get to it, you have to open up the whole assembly, which isn't very difficult. Two bolts on the underside of the black cluster, and you're there. I don't think you have to remove the two throttle wires, but if you do, that's not...
How on earth did that guy manage this?? Did he open the whole cam chain cover, or what? I mean... From what I can remember, it was a no-brainer to swap it. The thing goes in one way, and that's it. It's impossible to screw this up:ban:
It definately isn't the timing nor the valve clearance. That would make your bike sluggish etc.
It sounds like something electrical to me. Does it just suddenly stop? Like if you switch the kill switch or the key? Either it's the kick stand switch, the kill switch (the red one on your...
Don't worry:thumbup: The motor is almost bulletproof. My bike has rolled close to 57000 km's, and has never been as good as it is now;) The cam chain tensioner got messy at about 40.000, and the new one hasn't shown any indications of rattling so far. I wouldn't bother looking for a manual...
From experience, I can tell you it's definately the cam chain tensioner. I had that metallic rattling noise too, and I swapped that little ****er with a new one. Voilá!
Thing is, it's a little piece in the spring mechanism that gets loose at some point. The resonance of the motor coincides...
You're partly right, but one can allways improve previous imperfections. It all comes down to patience and the details. I've done this enough to know:rolleyes:
I think I'll go with something similar to Townsend's suggestion, namely a Marine Tex equivalent that I just found out is in store at...
Thanks Townsend:thumbup:
Is this what you're thinking of?
Marine-Tex Epoxy
That sounds like magic: "Handles like putty, hardens like steel, sands like wood". Now, if THATS's true, I'm sold. Problem though, is that I need to find something similar over here.
The putty products that...
Ok, so... I have this fuel tank that's "customized", which I did after my crash to fit my inverted bars. Anyway, as it is now, it's not 100% smooth, hence any clear coat would enhance any irregularities. I have used fibreglass and stuff like that and sanded the crap out of it, but still it's...
