I keep the bike in my garage year round; heated in winter so I'm able to work on it during the down time here in Illinois.
Maybe you can find a soft pillow to put on the tank and front fender and then cover with a bike cover when you have a potential for hail.

Yamaha makes a mud, grease and engine cleaner you can use; part number ACC-MUDGR-CL-NR; will not harm plastic, rubber or metal parts. I bought a can at the local bike shop for $4.99. WD-40 & Goo Off work well and can be found locally.
Oil and filter changes, tires, plugs and a new battery. I recommend a battery tender for the bike if it does not already have one from the dealer. You may want to change the oil and filter and possibly change the brake fluid. Get yourself a service manual for the bike; I have the Yamaha...
