    Do you drive differently?

Not at all. I drive at 2 to 3 thousand revs trying to keep it low and economical, while the Fazer has to rev and I'm trying to use the engine in the torque/power range. Without looking at the rev counter I'm getting my ears accustomed to the sound of trying to get it to 12000rpm but changing...

    Triumph Street Triple R

It would take some convincing to get me to part ways with my beloved Fazer. This baby could do it...:cheer:

    Toyrun time!!!!

Yep count me in... remember one teddy will keep one kid occupied for one moment. It may cost some more but one cricket set will keep twenty kids busy all day:rockon:

    FZ6 too expensive!!

Here in South Africa the Fazer600 is kind of "entry level" as 600s go. Nowhere near as expensive as an R6 or CBR600 and the parallel would be the Honda Hornet (599) or Suzuki GSR600 (the Fazer is still cheaper) or the Triumph 675 Daytona/Street Triple (rand/pound exchange not too favourable at...

    Don't have riding gear?

There is no need for "designer label" stuff like two-piece custom made leather suits etc. Even if it's a cheap Chaiwanese plastic biker boot it still offers more ankle protection than a pair of sneakers. Fractures are hell to live with years after the prang...:(

    "Loose" front end?

I got "bumped" off at a four-way stop street a year ago or more, and the bike went into workshop for repair. They diagnosed cosmetic damage only and the insurance replaced the fairing, windscreen, indicators and mirrors etc. After getting the bike back I was concerned about the wobble but no-one...

Lane Splitters are Foolish Beyond Belief!

I lanesplit every day (it is legal in South Africa) and it can be done respectfully. If the driver of the car stays in the centre of his lane (without doing a radical evasive swerving manoeuvre) I'll get through with causing any harm.:cheer:

Now that looks like a fart haze...

    Bummer man

Don't just plug the tyre and expect good performance. Remove the tyre from the rim and examin the punctured area. If the fibre is undamaged place a patch over the hole and the tyre will still be good enough to commute with but I would avoid track day on it.

    Buying advice for FZ6

If you were buying MY Fazer I'd provide you with FSH. You would be able to see exactly how many kilometres were done before each service, how many times I've changed the tyres and/or sprockets and chain, brake pads etc. and what distances I've travelled between tyre changes etc. After 40 000...

    Warm up time

Even on the racetrack at trackday. When I go out onto the track the bike is cold as is my attitude. It takes a few laps of tiptoeing around the track very carefully until the tyres as well as the engine, oil, shocks, brakes and my mind have all warmed up sufficiently and I gradually decrease my...

    Global weather madness

OK so I'm NOT in New Orleans thank goodness, but today is 01 September and traditionally it is the first day of spring in my world. Yesterday was so bad I dared not take the bike out of the garage. Cold and wet and incredibly blustery, News24 reports the worst storms in a decade in Cape Town...

    Warm up time

A minute with the engine running until I'm out of the driveway and the garage door is closed. Then I proceed very slowly for the next five minutes with about a quarter throttle and only about 5000 revs until I'm a fair distance from home and through the worst intersections. At this point the...

What you think? He wants 3500$

The plastic bits are cheap and easy to replace (I've replaced the fairing and bars, mirrors, indicators and screen twice, (my own fault once and a drunk's the next) The tank can be repaired. As long as she goes OK - it's a done deal.

    FZ6 v. DL 650 (V-Strom)

The important factor should be the bike's secondary function. As a commuter they're equal (more or less). The Fazer does a good job of trackday and mountain passes on my Sunday ride, but if I were to venture onto the dirt roads I'd rather take the DL650... (that's just a sandy gravel road and...
