Can somebody help me with changing the front sprocket. I had a little problem with the rear sprocket but all went well. I just cant figure out the front. Can somebody help me.

Take it off, put the new one on.

Do you have specific questions? Make sure you use a torque wrench; make sure the locknut washer is installed correctly; make sure the sprocket fits your chain; do some cleaning while you're under the sprocket cover.

The best way is use a impact wrench, But if you dont have access to one you can do this.
leave the chain and everything on.
Next get the correct size socket for the nut on the front sprocket.
Get a breaker bar on the socket
Put the bike in first gear with rear tire on ground.
Have somebody sit on bike.
Break nut loose and loosen and you now have front sprocket loosened.
Replace chain and rear sprocket then put back together.
Make sure you torque everything to manufacters specs.

I changed the rear sprocket from the stock silver 46 tooth, to the black 48 tooth, that was the easy one. I have no clue on the front sprocket and i went down 1 to a 15 tooth.

Re: Front Sprockt

On my ninja changing the front sprocket was very easy and straight forward. I have not done it on the FZ. I cant give you any good advice but if your learning, take your time, and take pictures of every step.

Re: Front Sprockt

Remove the shifter arm that goes through the frame. Remove the drive sprocket cover (3 bolts). Remove the nut, lock washer and counter sprocket. Reverse to install. The counter sprocket retaining nut is torqued to 65 ft*LB and the cover bolts are torqued to 7.2 ft*LB. If memory serves me, the nut is a right hand thread.

That bike is going to scream with that R6 gearing.....

Re: Front Sprockt

I see you went with the 520 X-Ring. Great choice... Keep some weight over that front end until you get used to it because it will get light. I had the 15/46 on mine for a while and I loved it but the super slabs didn't. The riding I do here in Kentucky would be well suited to the 15/48 although I am going with the 525 X-ring simply because I want the stock R6 set up with the insulator. Your drive will be noisier than stock but you'll get used to it.... Let us know how you like it....

Re: Front Sprockt

is the 525 X a stronger chain?

No, the 520, 525, 530 and so on only indicate the pitch of the chain which goes from smaller in the case of the 520 to larger in the case of the 530. The overall strength of the chain is determined by its tensile strength rating and as a general rule no manufacturer uses a chain that exceeds a tensile strength greater than 8,300 pounds although the new 1098 works bike from Ducati is a bit over 9,000 pounds but you can buy a car easy for what that bike will run you. The 520 will serve you well.

Re: Front Sprockt

For what it's worth, I changed mine without removing the shift lingage...you have to wiggle the cover off but it saves some time and possible frustration in the end.

Re: Front Sprockt

Before you take off the old chain and gears, loosen the front sprocket nut. Mine was basically welded on there.

I had to put a 2x4 through the spokes and the swingarm on the back wheel, push the front tire up against a wall, and essentially stand on a breaker bar to get the damn nut off. I would suggest you take the nut off before you remove your old chain so you don't end having problems.

good advise, and also when you put it back on be sure to use a well calibrated Torque wrench, that is one nut that you do NOT want to come loose!

Now I know why Mr. Ingersol was invented. One pull of the trigger and that nut just flew off.....

That is a top tip, I have been caught out with that before. Its a real BITCH.

How badly did this effect the speedo accuracy?
I like the thought of the front being nice and light. Plus the reality is that none of us really use the top speed of the eve range anyway.

Probably want to order a speedo healer at the same time if you are doing this mod, unless you like to do a ton of math while riding...

Just a thought here but do you not have to think about the offset with the stock gearing at speeds above 65-70mph? With the 15T counter it will just be more. Funny thing about it is the speedo is the one thing I am not usually looking at. Especially if I am going the same relative speed to those vehicles around me. If I am beyond the posted limit it really won't matter if I do get a ticket because I am over anyway. I will however say I don't have to worry about cops much.

I haven't even figured out how much my bike is off yet and if it is off by more than 5 or so MPH at 80ish then i will probably get the healer anyway.
