What dealer did you get yours from? I went to Yamaha of Columbus. They have hooked me with up with some deals in the past. Just wondering if it was to same crew.
Well? Done deal! I secured the new bike with a deposit today! After speaking with the buyer of my 2005 bike, then speaking to his bank, we are all set to trade my in-transit title for a check... that check will take me out to Freedom Cycle with a fist full of cash to pick up my new Cobalt Blue 2008 FZ6 (unspecified date at this time)... I'm likely going out this Saturday just to see the dealership. Several people at work all rave about them along with reiobard here in the forum! I did make sure that it was 100% refundable just in case my buyer backed out for any reason but he's 100% sure as of today that what is currently mine will be his when I have the title in hand.

I dealt with Boulevard Cycle in New Philadelphia. They got me the bike within 5 days of ordering it.
Going on FOUR WEEKS, but the WI DOT is about as efficient as square foot hole in your roof when it's -8F outside.

Thanks all! Nice to have all the dealing over with and a bike secured! They actually have the bike but it's still in their warehouse in a crate and needs to be assembled. BUT, I have an invoice with the VIN so it is secured as mine... whew!!!

I *hope* I'm luckier than Wolfc70 on the title!!! I sent Yamaha customer service an e-mail inquiring about a possible expedite on the title, explaining that I sold it and was buying the 2008. I'm betting they'll say I can't do anything but wait though... Couldn't hurt to ask!

Yeah, Keira's brother is flying in on SkyBlue Saturday morning and we are all meeting him and his wife up there for breakfast. I am also toying with going to get my bike out of storage on Saturday, but i am guessing that it will still be stuck since i have to go around from the back yard of my friends house to get it out of his basement (snow still in the yard)...I have met Dave, he seems like a good guy.
I have gone a few times this year and was surprised that they had none of the new designs out for the FZ6, just a few 06's out on the floor.

Has anyone got an invoice that they can share? (maybe take a picture of it and post it and just scrub off anything that you dont want others to see).
Just wondering what all info is on an invoice and how it can be used?

That is a really good price. I am looking for an 08 FZ6 right now. I started by calling couple of dealers to find out OTD but they just mention the MSRP. And then they tell me the long list of usual other costs.
In your opinion, what is a good way to tell them that others have bought it for ~6400 and I want a similar deal.
If I remember correctly, you guys don't have any sales tax in NH, but here in VA we have a 5% tax. So, that would make the OTD for me to be ~6700.
Any suggestions how to initiate without sounding too rude? Or am I just overly paranoid about breaking the news to them?

I was hoping to do what I do with buying new cars, deal via the internet. Overall, I found it harder with bikes. What I do is go into dealerships and ask them for the OTD price. They give you something which is usally higher than their bottom line, so you say something else, like i know some people who got it for 6420 otd including all fees. They counter offer. Make sure they know you are serious and tell them you'll buy within the next week or two (if that is your intention). Go to a number of dealers. Once a delaer sees that you have an aggressive offe from another dealer often they'll match it or even say ahead of time bring me their offer and I will beat it by $100. At the end, a couple of hundres dollars don't make a difference if you get what you want. I just put a deposit on a bike which is $6600OTD (plus, I'll pay tax on the net balance from my trade). i didn't have as many bargaining chips since I wanted to trade in my bike and not wait for it to sell privately. The trade they gave me is $400 more than another dealer and probably equivalent to what I would get with a private seller, so I was very excited about it.

First, never be afraid to let them know you are looking at all possible dealers. This puts them on the competitive edge. Here is what I sent to all of them up front and let them all start feeding me with replies. It works every time. Some will not respond, one was up-front and said they couldn't compete and 3 of them kept the deals coming... Hope this helps!

This netted me the $6418 OTD. The lower cost above was also the furthest dealer from me and would have cost me over $100.00 in gas to go get it. Good luck and I hope that helps! Remember, you only need to retain one of them as a friend!

Yup! Met Dave, toured the whole place and bought Pro-Tek sliders which they will install before I pick it up. Everyone was great there! The place is VERY nice! Best showroom I've ever seen!
cool, glad you liked the place, when do you pick up the new bike? We will have to grab lunch and a ride if i got the bike out by then...
I should have my '05 gone this week. The title is in the mail and the guy has the check already, we're just waiting to swap the documents. Then, I'm MIA from NH for three weekends running so it looks like April 12th, a Saturday, might be the first available day. I'll let you know!!!
