Help - Fender Eliminator Kit

My back FE Kit has arrived. I got stuck on disconnecting the turn signals, and the license plate light part. Also the two bolts holding the factory plate fender seem too close to the exhaust for me to bring in my wrench. Does anyone have a nice write up on how to remove the stock rear fender / plate holder and disconnecting the turn signal cables?

You need to take the rear left pod off to disconnect the turn signals. I believe there is one bolt in the top after you take the seat off, ten it has two press in clips so just pull and it will come off.
The bolts by the muffler are a tight squeeze to get too, but it's quite possible. There are also two allen bolts underneath.

i didnt want to start another thread since i have another FE Kit problem..i just finished installing it without any problems but the funny problem occured when i was trying to put my license plate on...the holes for the screws are way off from the holes on my license plate i laughed my ass off when i tried to put it on after spending a little bit more than an hour to put the FE kit on the bike and i was just thinking that i did a good job without any problems during the process..

i put tons of double sided tape between my plate and the FE Kit,,,i know that its not the solution...im not gonna ride it like that anyway,,there is snow blowing all over the city right now...i just couldnt decide what to do,,drill another set of holes to the kit or to the plate?

my plate is a standard ontario bike plate,,did anybody else had this problem before? im still laughing,,i wasnt expecting this at all :Sport:

ps: i used the size 10 wrench from the bikes original tool kit to get rid of the bolt by the exhaust..it works pretty well there...

Who's kit did you guys buy? If it is the FAZR6 kit then they are drilled correctly for me. The bolts are a tight fit but if you don't want to have to squeeze in a socket, then you can work your way down to the can covers and remove those. I actually just removed my FE kit and put the stock fender on today. I sold the 2005 and am getting the 2008 and the buyer didn't want the FE Kit or the camera mount. Two mods for me when the 2008 bike arrives!

You can work it with a wrench but it is tight... I used a short 1/4" drive 10mm socket with an extension and was able to wedge it in under the plastic can covers. The real bear is getting the wire cover put back on to protect the wires from the exhaust! Patience....

yes i got the FAZR6 kit ,very interesting,im assuming the US bike plate standards are different than the ontario plates...

I could be wrong but I thought he had a kit specifically for CA? You can ask Fred at SBN since he is the retailer of these kits.

My Scorpions came with a license plate bracket and kit, but it's for the OEM rear fender. FAZR6's FE kit fits just fine with the Scorp's, but I had to do a little bit of improvising to join the FE kit to the Scorpion license plate upper bracket.

I fitted my tail tidy this morning with no problems

1.Remove seat.

2.Remove the side pod on the gear leaver side.One screw one on the top then it should pop off via two rubber grommits.

3.Disconnect the number plate light and the indicator wire (1xblack terminal,1x grey and 2x bullet connectors)

4.Undo and remove the bolt on the underside of the gear lever side plastic exhaust shroud.

5.Unclip the two zip ties holding the number plate and indicator wires.

6.Remove the plastic cap covering the wires.

7.Remove the original fender.Untighten with spanner then use fingers to remove the rest of the way.

8.Transfer the indicators to the new tail tidy-if the plastic inserts are hard to fit into the rubber-smear a little washing up liquid around them.

9.Attach the new tail tidy.

10.Connect the new number plate wires as follows: Black to Black and Red to Red/Blue.

11.Reverse steps 6-1.

12.Check all of the electrics work correctly.

13.Zip tie any loose wires up out of harms way.

Don't forget the Phillips-head screw underneath the side pod at the rear!

As I am awaiting my Scorpions (April 26th seems so far away!), I'll hold off on the installation of the FE Kit. What kind of improvising did you have to do to join the FE kit to Scorpion license plate upper bracket?

The FAZR6 FE kit doesn't "join" to the Scorpion license plate bracket kit, as the FE kit has no provision to attach the Scorpion bottom bracket, which is designed to attach to the stock OEM rear fender. You have to use Scorpion's horizontal large "U" shaped bracket to attach the FE kit, which is not as strong as the OEM "U" bracket, so your plate and flashers will bounce quite a bit.
You do have some simple attachment alternatives, however:-
-attach the Scorpion bracket kit (top bracket/extension arm/lower bracket) and use plastic cable ties to secure the FE assembly to the Scorpion lower bracket
-as above, but instead of using plastic cable ties, drill a couple of holes in the top of the FE bracket and the Scorpion lower bracket and secure using self-tapping screws or small screws and nuts. That's what I did. The whole assembly is then quite solid. Much better. :thumbup:
I'll try and upload a couple of pictures today to illustrate the above.

Do you have a better idea on how to securely mount the FE Kit to the Scorpions, preventing the turn signal blinkers from bouncing?

Ok...here's some pictures to go along with my explanation above on attaching the FAZR6 FE kit to the Scorpion-supplied brackets that are meant to be installed on the OEM plastic fender:

First off, here's the Scorpion parts diagram, showing the parts that can still be connected to the FAZR6 FE kit: parts numbered 5, 10 & 12 (connected together with the supplied bolts and nuts).
For some unknown reason, Scorpion has not shown part #10 to scale...it's actually quite large.

Here's my solution: You can't see the screws in this picture, but Scorpion part #12 is screwed to the top of the FAZR6 FE (2 holes and self-tapping screws)

As you can see, the attachment is quite innocuous apart from the shiny bits (the plated nut and bolt holding the lower bracket and the large washers on the FE kit to mount my aftermarket flashers...these will be painted black eventually).
