Mounted FZ1 handlebar and new mirrors

Next time I visit my dad's farm, I'll mount the Devil cans

As one can see from the last picture, I've removed the original plate holder and the turn signals. My plan is to cut the plastic plate holder as to only use the turn signal mount (yupp, that will be possible!), and attach those underneath the tail. I will also make some sort of plate holder bracket. Shouldn't be a big deal IMO.

I'm guessing you're not talking about the "kitchen"?

For the record: it's a basement where anything rendered useless is placed (except the bike, of course!).

But yeah, I think it turned out quite well. Except that I had to swing up the handlebar way more than I first wanted. But that's due to the fact that the bar will otherwise hit the tank with full steering lock.

Does this change in handlebars make u lean more towards the tank? or make u sit upright? how much of a diffference is it making ?

I'll get a more agressive riding position, in other words more closer to the tank. Not a whole lot, but some. The bar is "flat" if viewed from the side, opposed to the original one.

I'm guessing the overall height (including mirrors) is reduces by roughly 4-6 cm.

It's a fun and relatively cheap mod to do:thumbup:

I just got some universal bar ends from pit stop mc-import (you probably know that website?). Nothing fancy. All black. I had mounted the left side one when the pictures were taken. The riht one is mounted on the last picture, you just have to take a closer look They're kind of small and light. Much lighter than the stock bar ends!

IMO the riding position is more comfy, but I can't say for sure until the freaking snow disappears sometimes around July...........

By the way: When you're going to do the swap, make sure you measure up the hole you'll have to drill in the bar before everything else is mounted. I had to disassemble the whole thing as it turned out to be pretty damn hard to drill a hole in the underside of the bar while it was attached to the bike

Regarding the snow you mentioned earlier.. Looking out of my bedroom window is the biggest pile of snow I've ever seen here. It's over three meters high We've gotten some freakishly huge amounts of snow these past couple of weeks.

Btw, did you simply use the stock bars to measure where the hole should be?

Yes, it's a tap that goes into the bar. No, I didn't measure using the stock bar. I just mounted everything first, drew some lines with a pencil and took everything off again. Then I measured. The new bar has a different angle, and you cannot just use the stock bar as a template. That will result in a break fluid reservoir tank that is totally misaligned

Looks great, nice job, i have similar flat "drag" bars, and i love em...puts just a bit more weight over the front wheel, without making it feel like your hanging all over it...i had the same mirrors too, they look hot, and offer a bet rear facing view than OEM mirrors, but get some bar end mirrors, you will be able to see a lot more...no arms in mirror anymore, and i think it looks very cool, gives the bike, a lower, tougher looking stance IMHO.

Thanks, I did consider getting a pair of bar end mirrors. Thing is... I like the mirrors I've got a whole lot better. Actually, it's your bike that gave me the inspiration to get those mirrors

Nice. I like the handlebar. Are those Pirelli Diablo Strada Tires you have on?
And if it is, how many miles you did on the thus far and how do you like this tire. I am trying to pick up a set my self with in a month or two.

It's embarrassing to say this, but I honestly don't know I bought the bike second hand in september and put it away for the winter in late october/november. As I said, the bike is at my father's house... One should know that kind of thing, I guess:spank: What I DO know, however, is that the rear tire is starting to get flat in the center, so it's probably time to change it.

The bike has done 26.000 km's (about 16.000 miles), and who knows how many tires it's been chewing before I got it.

Thanks, I did consider getting a pair of bar end mirrors. Thing is... I like the mirrors I've got a whole lot better. Actually, it's your bike that gave me the inspiration to get those mirrors

1st reason for swapping to bar ends was effectiveness, before Aesthetics, but i now would never go back...but those mirrors you are using are as sweet as too.
