Black Friday weekend I found a deal on the PL360 side racks from tourandride.com, last weekend I installed them onto my 2007 FZ6. I already had the Givi FZ351 toprack installed with a E52 topcase, so adding the side racks wasn’t too much of a hassle. I started off by adding the turn signal mounts. My Italian is a little rusty, and by that I mean non-existent, but I was able to figure out that “Piastrina Grande” and “Piastrina Piccolo” both don’t translate to “Little Plate”. I drilled two holes under the rear reflector big enough for the stock turn signal connectors, so I didn’t need to extend the wires.

Mounting the rack wasn’t too difficult. I had to loosen the monorack supports underneath the seat to get everything to line up right. I added the rear crossbar at the end, I wasn’t quite sure what way to mount it with the bent section, whether it should go above the plate mounts or below, I think I’ve seen pics with both ways. I ended up putting it below the plate mount, but I had to bend the plate a bit since I’ve got a LED brake light mounted on the bottom of my plate and the wires run up behind it.

Here’s some pics with both E21’s (21 liters each) and E360’s (40 liters each) installed for comparison. By the way, the E360’s are nearly identical in size to the newer E41 keyless cases.

Hi!

Sorry for bringing old topic to the top but I ran into a problem. I own 2007 FZ6 which is in my opinion old version, not S2 but in the papers it's stated as S2. So I bought PL351 side racks which don't fit. The sticky part which is attached to the rear passenger pedals is to short. Now I think maybe PL360 would fit.

Could anyone please measures the lenght of that stick? On PL351 is about 9 inches long and I need about two more inches to be fitted. So, any info would be great! :)

Regards

One difference between the S1 and S2 is the passenger footpegs. The S1 had the footpeg brackets welded to the frame, the S2 they were bolted to the frame and were about an inch or two lower. That's the difference in the mounting brackets. Sorry to say that it sounds like you have the wrong one.

The S1 (2004-2006) uses the Givi PL351.

The S2 (2007-2009) uses the Givi PL360.

I've been confused by this sort of thing, too.

I really like the SW-Motech bags (read about them in a thread on luggage).

Here's a really positive review from motorcyclist:

Anyway, the fz in the pic had no front fairings and I wondered if my bike was different. I have a 2007 fz6, faired. Anyone know if that fits? In other words, am I driving an S2 and don't know it?

The European models (maybe Canadian too?) offered a faired and unfaired version of the FZ6. The US only got the faired.
"S1" = "First gen" = 2004-2006
"S2" = "Second generation" = 2007-2009

Those bags will fit your bike.

Holy ish man, those E360s are huge! How much weight/wind do you think the side racks can hold? I'd think you'd be able to overwhelm the brackets at some point right?

OTOH, you could pack smart, put your heavy sh*t elsewhere and pack bulkier but lighter stuff in the sides and go adventuring for a really long stretch. Good stuff! :thumbup:

Hello, I've also gotten a great deal on a pair of givi e360 for black friday. What's the top speed you can safely go with them installed?

I've never had an issue with them at city or highway speeds. Gas mileage does go down a few mpg with the sidecases on though.

P.S. - this bike is for sale http://www.600riders.com/forum/sell-your-bike-car-truck/56151-feeler-fs-2007-fz6-ct.html

Thanks!
And thanks for posing the first message.
I must have reloaded this thread 20 times, just to look at your pics.

Finally, I've decided that the e360's are just too huge=> too prone to side winds and too likely to encourage overpacking piles of crap.

Just ordered a set of e22s at "Christmas discount". So far for 7-10 days trips we've been using one 40l gym bag (80% full) + one 22l backpack (50-80% full) + one 5l tank bag (mainly for the gps and DSLR), so 2x22l in hard bags should be enough. Most likely I'll sell the e360's and if we ever need larger capacity I'll just buy a larger tank bag.
