I have come across a used 2005 FZ6 with about 7k-8000mi with slip on scorpion exhaust included. Bike appears to be in great condition and the seller is asking $3800obo.

- still has some warranty with a local dealership
- slip-on scorpion exhaust
- kbb trade in $2k, retail $3k ... but that's assuming 12k miles

So how much would you pay for this bike?

I wouldn't pay more than 2700 for that. 3800 is a lot for a 05 if the KBB retail is 3k. Any private sell is gonna be less than retail because the retail price is from a stealership. Any aftermarket mod shouldn't affect the price, it just make it sell faster.

It depends on how much you want this bike, how long you have been looking, your budget etc. Tell the seller he has a good looking bike and that you are interested in buying it but his price is a little high for your budget and the book value. Then ask him what is the lowest he will take for his bike. If he says I'll take $3400. and you only want to spend $3200. then tell him you have $3200. if he will except that offer.

That's not outrageous for this area -- bikes generally go a couple hundred above KBB retail here. It really depends on your local market. Here, that would be a good price, and if he was flexible, it could be a great price.

I've seen several '07's in the DC area with asking prices of $4,500 - $5,000 with less than 5,000 miles...since I know you can get a newer FZ6 for just a bit more than $3,800 I would not pay over $3,000 or so for an '05 just because '04 and '05 are prone to TPS issues and '07 had some nice changes to make the bike overall better.

Here are two local adds I just found today:

06 Yamaha FZ6 - $3700 (Sidman, Pa)

For Sale: For Sale: 2006 Yamaha FZ600 It's maroon with 6,600 miles all stock expect a new back tire. The bike run's and looks great only reason for selling is because i bought a cruiser and don't need two bikes. I am the second owner and i have owner it sense 2008 when it had 2,800 miles. Come and take a look at it you won't be disappointed. May trade for UTV or side by side will add cash if needed. 814-244-9355 Please no emails i never check them.

Great bike for new riders! Practically brand new! Only 750 miles! Cherry apple red. The bike has been lowered and smoke flushmount headlights have been put on it. Garage kept. FZ6 cover comes with it. Low miles are due to a new rider uncomfortable riding. Serious offers will be considered.

Could you expand on this, I have been having an issue with my 04 FZ6, thread under general discussion "running rich"

In regards to the bike I have a 2004 FZ6 same slip on exhaust I purchased recently for $2700 and only had 5500 miles on it when I bought it. Now it has 7700 on it and if your willing to pay $3000-$3800 you can buy mine.

I personally have a 2006 and apparently they fixed the TPS issues for 2006 and I have had no problems (13,000 miles on the bike now).

Here's a thread on the issue: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-technical/181-throttle-position-sensor-issues-you-experiencing-poor-idle-mileage-stalls.html

Is the 07 worth paying $500-$1K more than an 06? I've been tentatively looking at CL and I can find nice 06 FZ6's for about $3600 or less with low miles. The 07+ are all going for over $4200. I know what the physical differences are, but is it that big?

That's find and dandy for someone in that area, but I'm in Southern California. I don't mind traveling for a bike, but that's just a little too far. There was one for $3300, I emailed today only to be told it sold the same day (yesterday). Gotta be on the ball something fierce.

I would say $3500. It looks spotless from the pic. Only problem is if you are going to finance it they won't give you more than book. private party value is always higher than retail.......
