What is the plug?

Is this the O2 connector? Mine is a 06 which does not have the O2 sensor so the ECU operates in open loop all the time. IF this is a O2 connector then it may be possible to rig the pre 07 bikes with a wide band O2 sensor.

You can see the jumper under the black cover.

Where is that? i can go look for it on my 07 and let you know if the O2 sensor is hooked up to it, but i need to know where that bunch of wires is.

I looked at the parts lists for the ECUs a while ago.... the model number does not change at all between pre and post '07: XXX-8591A-10-00 49 state, XXX-8591!-20-00 CA...

Looking at the headers, the '07 introduced the O2 sensor.... prior to that, there is a bolt in the parts list where I would think the O2 sensor would mount....... But the header design does in fact change, in '07.

That connector is just beside one of the stock ECU connector joints between which the pc3 resides on the left side of the bike.

04-06 - ECU always in open loop as no O2 sensor but looks like there is still provision to put in one
07-09 - ECU in closed loop as headers have provision for the O2 sensor.

If ECU part #s are the same which means the pre 07 can be rigged with a O2 sensor if 07+ headers are used.

Just to make sure we're looking at the same thing, we're talking about this, right?

I've got the bike disassembled for a PCV install and this thing is an '08 *grin* *grin*. Anyways, that connector isn't hooked up to anything either. Maybe its for diagnostics?

Ya that is right. Remove the cover and you will see the jumper.
