I did a search but couldnt find a title that matched. Anyway, my question is...what tire pressure do you guys use? The Bikes suggested pressure or the Tire manufacturer's recommended pressure on the tire itself. Car mechanic once told me regarding the same question on a car..."The tire manufacturer knows better what pressure that tire is suited for than the maker of the car." As far as our bikes???? If you have an opinion or fact, on either/or, I would be insterested in hearing it. Thanks
Bart

The figure on the side is a MAXIMUM the tyre can take and shouldn't be used. The manufacturer of the bike will suggest a pressure for the tyre based on handling tests.

I run mine on yamaha's reccomended setting for fat a55es.... 36 front 42 rear if I remember correctly

oem (battlax bt-020) front tire and a battlax bt-021 in the rear (damn screws)

I run 32frt-34rear. This is at the low end of tire manf. sugested pressures. It works well for me.

+1 on "It Depends".

Some of this has to do with personal preference and I'd suggest you play around with tire pressure to see what you like. Your body weight, the type of riding you do all play a factor. Use less pressure in the front than in the rear though.

I'm 210lbs, 33-36 Pilot Powers

Shouldn't this thread be in the "Tire tech talk" area so that thread can be viewed along with the other tire related question in case another member has a tire question.

With the factory installed tires [BT020] I use the manuals suggested pressure or close to it - 35 psi front 40 psi rear. I have over 7000 miles on these tires with normal wear for that mileage.

So from experience....your a big guy say 240ish and going on a road trip that might have some nice frequent turns in it. Would you want a tight pressure or mushy pressure?

225 lbs - default Dunlops - 41 front and 44 rear per Dunlop's recommendation for my weight. Also have the rear shock up to 6 now. Racetech springs and 15w oil going in soon.

On the road I usually follow the manufacturer recommendations. 38 to 40 psi.

On the track Ive been told to look for a 5 to 7 psi increase from cold. ie. If I use 29 front & back, then head out & do a 20 min session. I then come back in & check em. If they are up around 36 im happy.
It all depends on the track temp & how hard im pushing the tyre.

This is just what has been suggested to me but it seems to work pretty well.
