FZ1S. You know what you're in for that way. Reliable, low maintenance,and although it is heavier on paper than an FZ6 (no not Hustler magazine) the FZ6 is far top heavier, and standing next to the bike and swaying it side to side as though you are trying to get the fuel sloshing in the tank, the FZ1 feels lighter by far. Change the gearing for touring if that is what you're after, and you're on a winner. Can pick up second hand ones with low kays very cheap. ( I think some people scare themselves on them). Keep it under 8 grand and it rides like an FZ6 at 6 grand or less except it can pull more firmly from lower down (but nothing psycho). 8 grand is scarey time:rockon:

I don't know about other people, but I find the seat incredibly comfortable for a seat made to move around on. If you're not over 170cm the bike is perfectly comfortable, but you'll strech a little to reach the deck (about like the FZ6)

Again, not seriously looking. Definitely can't afford another bike right now. But will seriously look at it next year.

I'm happy with my FZ6 for now. Am just looking for something to add to the collection in the future. I envy Mike - he gets to choose from his XJR or Speed Triple when he goes for a ride. I want a choice too :thumbup:

Ah yes, but that thing is heavier, with less power and more torque, so it'll get you into trouble more, down low, in traffic. The seat height is half an inch higher, and the pegs are very high, giving you a sporty ride, but not the best for touring. Then there is the ground clearance on a lean.

Those headers would last all of five seconds on a bumpy twisty road.

I'm sure Kazza would be happy with the shorter wheelbase and more torque, as well:BLAA:. I reckon she'd be after a wheelie machine.

That shorter wheelbase makes it harder to get stuck in mid turn, so all the extra torque is useless, until you straighten up, and then it's time to change gears again. Of course it'll help with direction changes, but it needs that 'cause it's heavier.

The upside is that it's suspension is well sorted and it has an Ohlins rear shock, and it has a radial master cylinder (although this is a relatively cheap add on now that also scores you new levers).

Does Looks great though:thumbup:.

The reason I suggested the 'S' model FZ1 was because of the screen and grab rails. The lower pegs added to this make it far better for touring.

Add to this the fact that I can buy 2 used FZ1's for the same price as a used Moto Morini of the same year and mielage, and I'm sold on the FZ1 for sure:thumbup:. Tourer and a track bike for the same price as one Naked.:thumbup: And it's got that fabulous Yamaha Donk (excuse me, just have to grab my towel):BLAA:.

And the seat is not as soft on the FZ1 as it is on the FZ6, but it is wider. I find it just as comfortable as the FZ6 ever was. If you want uncomfortable, look at a Zed thou or CBR RRRRRRRRR. The FZ1 has a nice comfy gel seat. Can twisty all day, or ride to PI:cheer:.

Its been horrible during the day though, too many cagetards around making the traffic as slow as all buggery for no reason. I wouldn't find the hot weather so bad if it didn't take every car at the head of the lights 10seconds to get moving when it goes green, and 3.5 minutes to get to the speed limit so I get stuck in the boiling heat unnecessarily.

I mean seriously... all I hear about is people failing to get their P's how do all these people even have a license.
I've been out and about lately and seen everything from constant driving at 20 below the limit, to drivers who can't choose a lane, drivers who do both that I just mentioned, and then all the idiots who can't seem to tell a green from a red, or turn a corner at more than 2km/h.
I even had to deal with some idiot at the mall the other day coming UP the DOWN ramp.....

On the bright side the bike cover is nice and dry. Its also good weather for going to air conditioned work tbh.

Sure am...skanking about quietly in the shadows...it's so peaceful at night, phone doesnt ring, kids are asleep, and thje roads are EMPTY!

Yep, I am sure my neighbours all think i am some sorta "weirdo", hanging out in my shed till sometimes 4 or even 5am....like the other night, when i got back out of bed at 3.20, cause i couldnt sleep, and changed the exhaust on the touring mule...job finished at 5.06am, and i even managed to swap the tail section out, fitting my smoked glass LED tail light while i was there...

It is 3:30 am here in Michigan right now( I know this is the Aussie's thread) I totally agree agree with you it is more peaceful at night, then the next quote made me LMAO cause the other night the old couple next door asked me what I am doing in the garage at all hour of the night.
