The "Off Topic" thread...

Was down at the Delamere shops today, with a flat rear (tire) and the folks in the shops were telling me about a nasty prang on Delamere between a 4WD and a Bike. Rider dead at the scene.

Haven't got much info about it, but I can recommend avoiding that road for a while. Passed 4 radars on the way home.

Nasty stuff.... Had to happen sooner or later! That road is great, but the stakes are high if you ride it hard, and because it is so quiet for traffic, I think people turn onto it with less thought for other road users...

Sad stuff!

The really sad thing is, there are only half a dozen places to slow down for driveways etc and this isn't a problem because they are not the best bits of the road anyway. Most of the juicey stuff is completely driveway free:rockon:.

Not trying to rain on the poor rider involved (especially since my second hand info may be wrong) but it only takes a little self control to slow down for these bits....then you can go silly again.

I am surprised that there hasn't been some more along there though. It is a high speed road.

There was a very small piece in today's paper about this...the guy that lost his life, was 42 years old, and as Mikey said, he died at the scene...

I'm sure they do. Just haven't heard anything yet. The accident investigation mob took a long time to get there. The CFS folk were talking about being stuck there for 4 hours blocking the road off.

I don't know if its just me but the other road users seem to be getting progressively dumber at an unsupportable rate at the moment.
I've had entire trips where everyone does 20-30km/h UNDER the limit. People never using a blinker, turning a corner in two lanes or generally driving in two lanes, stopping without warning in the middle of the road for no apparent reason although you can often see a GPS as you go past, or my favourite on a mobile phone doing something utterly retarded.

I wish I could get one of those mobile phone signal blockers built into my bike, with a good 30m range.

well, looks like Humpy kicked my butt....at the AFL Fantasy footy thingo....i ranked 16th on the premiership table after round 1! might be time to let the 11 year old son take over my team!

Woeful Wolfy's wonders!

:D

But ya did ok in the Fantasy road race. Up to 2nd spot now.. Well done.

Yes, was just looking at that.....Picked Corser, cause he always scores a few points at least, hardly ever crashes, and i reckon Max is a good thing to win the Championship this year...that Aprillia is damn fast, and with a season of set up data under their belts, Aprillia are gonna be right around the mark at most tracks i reckon...

As for the Footy, it was a crap weekend...My Roosters got flogged by Westies, and as for the Cows...the less said, the better!

Did you see Fevola's soccer goal on the weekend? He might be a tool, but he is a freak! As is Adam Goodes, he pulled off 2 great "soccer" kicks on the weekend!

MAd Max looks the goods this year, thats for sure. What's up with Haga??? Pushing for the championship last year, this year, can't get out of first gear. I know he doesn't like Portugal, but even then, you'd think he'd do a little bit better.

I went to the footy with a mate that follows the Roosters, he wasn't a very happy chappy friday night. Decent crowd at the game though, line-up for the bar was stupid. 15 mins to get served.

And yes... Big Fev is definately a freak. Goodes could get a game with Man Utd with his footskillz from the weekend.

Yeah, really glad I picked J Rea and RL Hayden. They are doing REALLY well....

As for AFL - sorry - not my thing. I'm only happy with the AFL when I hear the TOILET DUCKS or the DORKERS lose. Pisses everyone off in Perth ;)

NRL - well - Cronulla have both hands on the wooden spoon after 3 rounds.

I'm not good at picking sucessful teams - except for McLaren in F1 and God in MotoGP (that's Valentino, in case you didn't know :))

Well, Rea is looking good, just has to stay on the bike for the whole race...lol

TOILET DUCKS and DORKERS... LMAO. Haven't heard them called that before, nice :BLAA:

NRL... Hmm, whats that??? :Flip:
Was a good F1 race on the weekend, bit of passing, bit of strategy, bit of stupidity... Much better than the boredom of the last few years.

Well, went looking for new bars for my bike today (fz1 are looking good at the mo). Of course, ended up looking at bikes for a "track bike".

Saw a 2006 FZ1 Fazer with only 6000 kms on it - fantastic condition - stock standard - $11,990. Felt great (didn't ride it though).

They also had a Kawasaki Z1000 - a lot more aggressive position - $9000 - 15000 kms.

My original budget was $5000 - Mikes budget is "whatever it costs". Well, there's my problem. Don't know what to get. I would like a FZ6 but it's hard to get a good one with low kms for a good price.

What I did see though - not a track bike - was the FZ1. I had never really paid it much attention as I am so biased toward my bike. Had a seat on it and it felt perfect in every way. Seat, handlebars - everything. It was black (Mikey will be happy....). I could definitely see myself on one of those in the future. But I don't know if I could ever part with my FZ6.

That's all. Bit of a ramble, and I've only just had my first wine

Hahahah! Looking at an FZ1? Black one no less. Can't you just feel the power drawing you in...lol. You've seen it, you've heard it, and you're still asking questions?

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpDLeo4lcCg]YouTube - Mad Max - Last of the V8's Scene (Original Aussie Version)[/ame]

Paid $9,700 for mine. 06 with 6000 on the clock. Fender eliminator came with it (not fitted), a race stand, a small screen and it had Oggies. It is in pretty good shape too. 12,000 seems a little steep. Z1000 is under powered, and under suspendered. They do look very nice though.

Have to agree with mikey, the z1000 is not quite as much bike as the FZ1! And we might know, we ride with a pretty trick 07 z1000 regularly.

Thanks for the Mad Max vid.

I have NEVER seen Mad Max.

True

Mike has them all on DVD and is disgusted that I won't watch with him.....

Never seen Mad Max...As mikey would say, that is most un-Australian!

Why won't you watch them?

I have no idea why - I don't like Mel G but I don't think that's the reason.

I also haven't seen Die Hard films, Rambo and anything with Chuck Norris.....

Bit like me with Nicolas cage... I struggle to bring myself to watch anything with him in it! Dunno why, I think he just annoys me!

As for the rest of those movies, there is a common theme there, action flicks! I take it your not the biggest fan of the genre?

Not at all. Love Terminator, Predator, Bourne movies, Tarantino movies - don't like chick flicks. Watched Kill Bill again tonight - just depends on my mood.

Changing topic, tried looking for MCS drag bars on google - found their site but they only sell trade - couldn't even look at the cost. Know anywhere else I could get them?
