Test rode BMW-S1000rr today
I visited the local BMW shop here in Vegas today, and took this baby out for a spin.
They claim it's the most powerful Liter bike ever made, comes with a standard three year/36,000 mile warranty. Yeah, we're all use to the 1 year/12,000 from most manufacturer.
I was told about the clutchless shifter. As long as you're not lugging the engine, you just shift up without rolling off the throttle! It was smooth as butter, once I deciplined myself not to roll off the throttle when I shifted.
My luck, I noticed a trooper had pulled someone over on the freeway, but I still managed to get it up to 110mph without any effort. At 90 mph, the RPM was at 7000. You can see it starts to redline at 14,000.
The braking was incredible. I could stop on a dime. Either my FZ has horrible brakes or these brakes are just that good.
The only awkward feel I had was the turn signal. Had a tough time getting use to the very light switch. Half the time I used it I wasn't sure if I had activated it.
Yes, she was thirsty after my 45 minute assault.
My opinion, if anyone is thinking of purchasing a liter bike, no question about it, for the money, this is the best bang for your buck. MSP $14-$16,000 depending on the goodies. Plus, 3 year warranty.
