I have filled out an application the new Dollar store out here. Since this building is new, the owner does not have lights up outside so he closes at dark, (due to liabilty issues).....but he will get the lights up this coming week and he said that he will see how much business he gets at night and if the business is good, I'm hired. It will be 2 days a week, from 3pm to 9pm (I still have my 2 other jobs.) The only problem is..........all of the business' out here close at 8pm and I would be there by myself from 5pm to 9pm......that last hour kinda scares me (robbers). Anyways.....what do you all think? Should I do it?

I think it depends on what you want from this endeavor and how it will effect the other endeavors you may already have. If all three can remain harmonious with no adverse effects why not?

Uhmmm, put the foot down and tell sportrider_fz6 no more R/C toys, repairs, or upgrades, and piss on the new job. :justkidding:

Do what you gotta do, just make sure the kids still know who you are when you get home. LOL

LOL.....I'm not doing it for the RC toys......basically to feel like I'm doing something, plus, sometimes work is slow at the newspaper.

To me life is more then work, and would only take on a 3rd job if I needed the money. Otherwise, my free time is more valuable to me then being stuck inside a store working - if I don't need to be.

Are robbers that much of a problem in your area? usually those guys like to go for gas stations and convenience stores and pizza delivery boys.

well.....I kinda do need the money.

One of the local stores, 10 miles north, was held up at gun point. That's the only one I've heard of. I guess I could take the 12 gauge with me to work. :D

J, I hope this is a joke. This is not a good idea and this is why, when you are behind that counter taking money you have what I consider a limited trust in the public at witching hours. You look for suspicious actions. That scatter gun is behind the counter and you even have a round chambered. Here comes the problem: perp comes in and walks up to the counter, his buddy is outside in the cage waiting. You ask if you can help and he says "give me all your money at gun point." Now, you have a couple of choices, you can open the drawer and give him the money or you can open the drawer, give him the money and reach for that shot gun to shoot him in the back. If he is crazy enough to use the weapon for felony armed robbery are you willing to take the chance he won't shoot you for even considering to get that gun? Give him the money and pull that security tape for the locals after the perp leaves.
Attempting an aggressive act to protect that cash drawer generally leaves the odds in the perps favor and saving that money is not worth your life.

I was only kidding about the gauge.

Good luck if you decide to do it, sounds like it could be another time filler. Do you need the $ or is it just a nice thing to have? If it is just nice then i would just ride more.
