I purchased a Secure Spend prepaid credit card and put a $200 balance on it last night so that I can order some parts and tools to change my oil rings.
I called one of the shops to place an order. I had a few other older cards with balances on them and did a split payment between them all to finish them off. I got down to the last $9.21, opened the new card and gave him the numbers.
It was declined.
We tried 2 more times. I look on the website, confirm it's active and the balance is there. We try a third and still declined.
I called their customer service and at least I didn't have to wait over 40 minutes to talk with anyone, but I am being told it is being stopped for possibly being compromised and they would need information to send a new card which I may receive as early as a week later.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
I pick up another one at Target. Their brand, Visa, not Secure Spend Mastercard.
Same thing happens.
Same call.
Same call center.
Same results.
Let's say I were to give these frauds my information to send me another. I get another fraudulent card that will not work because their artificial stupidity flagged it as possibly compromised again?
Plus they'll have my information I gave them.
Now I am out $400,
and can't get the things I need to fix the car.
I've been swindled, the only way someone would dare try.
Don't buy these cards and let it happen to you.
