Ok! So as I promised, I got all of my parts on today and actually got out there with a real camera instead of my Blackberry. I think I got some decent shots. I went to the location of where the new Discovery Park of America (link to this awesome place: The Discovery Park of America)is being built to get a few of the shots. Oh and by the way, our bikes are in no way intended for off-roading or construction zones. :spank:

The cat pipe is gutted by the way.

Let me know what you guys think of the mods.

that bike looks awesome! the lowers make it look like a completely different bike, the headers are amazing, and the exhaust looks spectacular. The projectors are also a nice looking addition.


I love the completely blank look of the bike, other than the simple YAMAHA at the bottom, very sleek.

don't get me wrong, i like the OP's bike. it looks really good. but if they would have released it like that i wouldn't have bought it. i much prefer naked bikes.

i do have to say though, rather than the fz6r they could have easily just given the fz6 with the option of getting a full fairing.


to the OP - great looking bike. because of all the black and red, i think your pegs would look great if they were black too. and are you going without turn signals on the back? plan on using hand signals every time? also, does having the plate mounted on the site change your turn radius?

Umm, I suppose the price for the headers would be the same for any color. I could choose any color I wanted as long as it was black. I actually got the headers done for free because my uncle has a welding and powdercoating shop in Dyersburg, Tn. Here is his info. Chewys Custom powder coating I think he told me that he usually charges around 200$ to ceramic coat Exhaust since the material is super expensive and takes 3-4 days of shop space for the junk to air cure. The material comes in other colors he said but since this is 2000 degree Ceramic Coating and not powder coating, and black is all people really ever want on there exhaust, that is all he orders. If you have ever heard of Boss Hoss, Chewy does all of their powdercoating jobs. Link:Boss Hoss Cycles

As for the license plate there, I am sure it would lengthen the turning radius for a left hand turn, but I am not that aggressive of a rider and it hasnt scraped yet. When i put it on, I did some pretty sharp turns in the huge parking lot at work to test that and I came out ok enough for how I would be riding.

As for the sticker, or any other decals, this is experimental. I have mixed thoughts on the sticker there. But since I have a custom vinyl cutting machine at the shop I don't really worry too much about it. I made it too small the first time so recut it into a couple inches longer. I did the artwork out for what would have been about a two foot diameter Yamaha logo to slap on the sides just to give it some graphics, but I just couldnt bring myself to put it on there quite yet.

Anywho, more pics to come after I get a few more lights under the fairings and can swindle some decent night photos. Peace. :rockon:

That looks REALLY nice! While I prefer naked bikes, a fully faired FZ6 definitely looks sexier than a half-fairing. Will the pipes now stay as is or will they eventually experience some discoloring? Thanks for sharing!

That bike looks amazing! I love how the headers turned out. One quick question though, does the ceramic coating prevent discoloration of the pipes? I wouldn't mind getting that done, that looks hot!

As for flushies, depends on how much you want to spend. Watsen Design sells some pretty slick looking flushies, and if your red is the factory red then the lights will also be color matched. You do have to pay a lot for those but I think they come with a free replacement warranty.

I agree, I don't think I would have bought mine either if they were selling it as a faired bike. I think that is part of the appeal of the FZ6, gives it a unique look in a world of plastic sport bikes. Thats not to say I don't like your bike barijack, If you gave it to me I would leave the fairing on.

Moopie, according to my uncle who did the Ceramic coating, he said it will change shades just a little bit, but it will always be a shade of black. Definately nothing like factory spotted/stained raw pipes.

I really like those flush blinkers, Manas12 (Fz6 Flush Blinkers). I might have to look into them further. $115 is a bit steep though. As for Dean Owens who asked about rear turn signals, I do have some. They are built into the tail light. I know they are not the safest things in the world, but everone that has packed up with me say that it is easy to see the signal blinking. As for front blinkers right now I just have some amber 194 bulbs in the modded pod light area above the projectors.

And I am glad that Yamaha did not release a fully faired FZ6. Reason is so that like myself and many others, we can take the bike and add things to it to make them our own. Unlike if the bike came this way from factory, everyone would be obligated to leave the parts on due to not wanting to waste the expensive plastics you've already paid for. So then there would be 1000s of identical FZ6's running around.
