NorCal ride to see SoCal gang 8/20- 8/22

Bring water/sport drinks. It will be well over 100°F for most of the places we will travel.

I'm hoping that we can pick up cold water/sport drinks at the meetup gas station? It would be more convenient for me not to lug all of that down with me tomorrow.

Yes Travis. We will be able to pickup liquids there and other places as well. I guess I wanted to just remind everyone to bring some kind of storage to carry their own beverages during the ride.

MOTORCYCLE CRACK DOWN THIS WEEKEND

Motorcycle safety target in weekend enforcement campaign :: Long Beach, CA

Just thought I'd post this, I don't think it's only Long Beach, but probably CHP as well, they usually coordinate these things regionally. They're planning on "cracking down" on motorcycle violations this weekend which generally means they'll be discriminating against and profiling motorcyclists even more than they usually do.

It's in the interest of "safety" (<cough> revenue <cough>). I'm all for penalizing those who endanger others, but these things always end up in people getting needless fines for 5mph over the limit, non factory turn signals, minutiae like that.

So anyone out riding this weekend, be extra-careful of the speed limits and any possible non-DMV-approved accessories on your bikes!

Well I'm here at my hotel. I guess it's only 10 miles away to Long Beach. Between lane splitting and using the Car Pool lane, rush hour was not bad at all!

The weather was brutal, I had to stop a few times to rehydrate. I'm pretty full right now from drinking all the liquids.

Actually, a very good article. It's also reminding all motorists to be extra careful and look for motorcyclist. Interesting statistics they have as well.
