My clutch is too tight!!

It has a very hard pull to it, which can make graceful acceleration kinda hard and is also a wear on the left hand if your riding in the city for a bit.. Is there a way to loosen the tension, or is there a spring somewhere.. What about cable lube, or replacing the lever?

let me know i should be able to explain to you how to adjust it

I'd start with lubing the cable and work the lever until it starts to free up. If it doesn't, work on adjustment of it.

Check both ends closely for any fraying. If any is found replace the cable. If none is found use one of the cable pressure tools with cable spray and lube until you see it come out the end. Also grease the cylinder at the upper end of the cable (where it goes into the lever itself) and while that far, remove the clutch lever handle, clean and lube (the pivot point) with grease...

when the clutch cable needs lubing it can feel very very tight. Lube it up and check for damage if it is really bad.

After I put (even before) I put my '08 on lay away in the back shop I asked 3 salepeople if the clutch was normal. I was coming off a TW200 with a light clutch. They all said it was normal. It still felt much stiffer to me until about 500 or miles. Now it feels easy but it's still much different than shifting a TW200!!!!

I have an '04 as well, and mine became very tight too.
I replaced it, and it's so much better on the arms now (arm pump was getting me on longer trips).

I couldn't see any damage on the old one, I've kept it as a spare if the need arises.

I replaced the clutch cable, the difference was remarkable.
