Looking to install NOS dry

Go for it. There are dry kits for motorcycles. Most of the kits are 20 or 40 hp. Use the 20hp kit and a Power Commander, then tune the motorcycle on a dyno. If all goes well with the 20hp kit, then step up to 40 hp, but remember tune it on the dyno so it does not go lean and destroy the engine. Remember many engines have been destroyed by using NOS at less that full throttle or by accidentally hitting the NOS button when the engine is not running, then when you start the engine it (lean) backfires out the intake track and destroys the engine. It would be wise to set it up with an arm switch and a full throttle switch to activate the NOS only at full throttle. This way you don't have to try to remember everything while using the NOS. It would be a good idea to buy a NOS book and read it before trying all this. An automobile NOS book (basic system theory is the same) should be fine as long as it covers dry NOS systems. Let us know how it goes.

yea but why install a dry kit and a power comander and have the bike running rich every time when your not using the nitrous.. when you could just install a wet kit and it would clear up those problems.. hell you technically wouldnt need a full throttle safty switch if you used a wet kit due to the extra fuel already being added...
 
You will still have problems with a wet system if you activate it at less than full throttle. Your right about running rich all the time, the Power Commander would be a track only hook up.

yea, but you would have way more problems running a dry and activating it at say half open throttle...:thumbup:

There's no point in activating a nitrous system (I refuse to refer to it as "NOS") at anything below full throttle. If you're at half throttle and need more power, open the throttle more. It's cheaper than using up your nitrous oxide.

Nitrous only makes sense when you already have the butterflies all the way open and you still want more power. In fact, most systems have a cutout switch so that you can only activate the nitrous oxide once you're already at full throttle.

If you look at the checklist for using Nitrous fz6 come up pretty complete.
Fz6 have a fuel pump capable of dealing with a 40hp shot, run at high rpms (when used as a drag race application), and have a system to regulate fuel and air before it enters the system. So using a dry system in moderation with some simple upgraded parts "should" be simple. I would think a small shot at maybe 3-4k rpm would get rid of the lag at takeoff

Despite possible increasing power 25+ percent It would just be cool to see drag times using it. Good Luck
